But, I live in a shitty neighborhood. Literally, a shitty neighborhood. A cop just had to use his car PA system to say, "Pull your pants up. That's disgusting!" :(
yeah i meant from door to door.. like 8 mins from me getting onto the bike to me saying HI to the family ..
it is. however, where i live....we have like 3 million people...i commute into a city with i think 13 million people.....so that's a lot of feckin' people in the way, moving about.
seriously, i don't mind my commute. it IS a long time. i wouldn't mind having some of the time back, but the actual commute...i like. i like taking the train, relaxing. i like my walk thru manhattan streets....i like where i work....and i really like my paycheck/perks. hubby also commutes into the city, so we take the train home together, walk home together....it's nice. i love where i live...and i love working in the city.....so it's a tradeoff.
At least you are cockroaches free? Living in Manhattan sucks. I'd trade ya
2 extended versions of Lukin for me! As to the roaches, I have the pest control guy coming tomorrow for preventitive measures as my building SUCKS!!!!! Still wouldn't trade it for anywhere else, but those damn roaches!!!

Anywhere from a half hour to an hour and 45 minutes depending on traffic and weather. So glad I'm starting a new job in July that will let me work from home once a week.
hubby also commutes into the city, so we take the train home together, walk home together....it's nice. i love where i live...and i love working in the city.....so it's a tradeoff.
Oh I used to love it when we could time it so my husband and I could ride home together. We usually worked slightly different schedules, but I worked a lot of overtime and would end up going home about 1.5-2 hours late sometimes and we would get to have some bonus time. I loved that!

That's cool that you get to do it with your hubby. My husband and I used to carpool together, sometimes that made the commute bearable sometimes it just made it more of a bear.
This was back when we were driving 35 miles to work, but even carpooling, on rainy days (Seattle area) it could take up to two hours to get to work.
I like living close to work and never want to do the long driving commute again!
Walking can be a real trip

our hours are almost identical...except during my busy seasons. however, then the firm pays for a car service home...and i am AT home...door to door....in 45 minutes. so that's nice. although it's usually 11 pm. haha. i could commute in the mornings with him too....but i don't have to....so i'd rather sleep a half hour later. besides, really...how much 'together time' can one take?
urban...i could NEVER handle a driving commute over 20 minutes! ack!
i wouldn't mind living in the city....could be awesome. however, sooooo pricey! besides which, i would miss all the spavce of my house, my garden, my central air, dishwasher, washer/dryer....so yea........definite compromise. live on the island....work in manhattan. IF i oculd have my same job, same pay working close to home...of course i'd go for it! altho i do soooooooo enjoy the *vibe* of the city, and would miss it. it's all such a toss up.
anyhoo....for a long commute, i am pretty happy with it....so it's all good.

haha, yeah...sleep sometimes trumps togetherness times. I could get up when my husband does, and hang out with him before he goes to work, since "alone time" together is at a premium with a toddler in the house...but...no. (Of course, he gets up at 4:30 these days, so that's not even a consideration!)
when i left Something was playing on my player.. when i got home Hail Hail had just finished.
i'd hate to do all that commuting nonsense!!!
8 mins
i was just thinking...sometimes i can wait 5 minutes just for the elevator...and then a minute or two IN the elevator, depending on how many floors it stops on. so basically, you get home in the amount of time it takes me to go from my desk, down 32 floors and out onto the street.
It takes me an hour from door to door. The traffic isn't bad (which is unusual for NJ)...it's just faaaaar. Most of the time I don't mind...gives me a chance to listen to good music and to process everything that happened during the day so that I'm fully ready to relax by the time I get home.
a little over an hour, the express bus is great. midtown manhattan right to my door, very rarely does it take more than an hour.

I used to do the half hour walk till I got my car. It now takes me between 3-5mins to get to work. I'll be back to getting the bus in the new job but should only take between 10-20mins.
Gone are the days when I used to get the 6am bus to be in college at 9. God, that was hell

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
