I've seen a number of programmes about spiders in Australia. They all appear to be dangerous and scary. Is that true? I would be scared to put my socks on in the morning!

a friend of mine who lived there said she had to check her socks every morning before putting them on  I couldn't cope with that.

Like most things about Australia's dangerous animals, it should be taken with a grain of salt.

If Australia's animals are as dangerous as everybody claims they are, nobody would live here anymore.

The most dangerous animal in Australia is the horse, killing approx 17 aussies every year. The most dangerous venemous animal is the bee, killing approx 11 aussies every year (those stats are a couple of years out of date).

the coolest thing is when a huntsman's eggs hatch and you walk into a room and all these little spiderlings are up there on the ceiling. you spray them with bugspray and they all drop from the ceiling on their spiderstrings. it's like paratroopers landing in europe. :D

totally. they're itty bitty spiders. :D

i do however feel bad about spraying them, but there can be dozens and dozens of the little eight legged darlings and i only have 2 eyes. :)

He said there's stuff going on and he needs to move home... but I reckon it was cos of the spider :)

:) I'm starting to agree... anyone who's afraid of spiders should have a spider zoo like ours cos it's making me a bit less afraid of them.

*shudders* Spiders freak me out sooo easily, but they are so fascinating... They are one of my biggest fears and I don't even know why... They freak me out so bad that I won't sleep if a spider is in the room until it is caught... But I won't kill them because then I feel bad... I mean, they just scared me, they shouldn't deserve to die for such a thing! But still... *shudders* Wolf spiders are the worst...

:o I know what ya mean... I don't like them in my room if I can SEE them and if they're moving. I don't mind if they disappear, I can just tell myself they've left the room. I don't like people killing them though :(

I remember when I was a teenager I used to wake my dad up at odd hours in the night/morning to capture the wolf spiders that dwelled in my room. The fucking things would just end up EVERYWHERE... The stories I have... I too am fine with them disappearing... Well not wolf spiders, but tiny spiders :p But seriously, the wolf spiders that used to dwell in my room really freaked the hell out of me. For example, I would go to sit on a bean bag chair and it was right there! *shudders* Another time for days I had been waking up with itchy bites all over me... One night I just got the sudden urge to fluff my pillow and when I picked it up there was a HUGE furry wolf spider beneath it... I was so freaked I couldn't even sleep in that bed! But the worst was when I went to put on a pair of pants and I felt something moving in my legs... It's the quickest I've ever taken pants off... Let me just say that.

Anyway... I used to have my dad come and capture the things, but all he would do was kill them and let me just say that he always used a frying spatula to kill these things because a regular fly swatter simply wasn't strong enough! When he killed them I felt bad, so many times I would try to capture them in jars and stuff, but they jumped! Scariest moments in life... Even when I caught them though I was too afraid to open the jars to feed them or allow them air because I feared they would get out, so it was a lost cause :(

Luckily where I live now Mr. Cateeto and I haven't come across any of those evil things... Just smaller spiders that don't affect me as much, but when he came home from Tennessee with brown rucruises (spelling?), I flipped the hell out! They were long dead and all that remained were the bodies of them... But still....

    Blah.

 that's just really disturbing... :o if I saw one in my bed I'd be sleeping on the couch for weeks.

It would be so fucked up :D

But, then I come from a country where we eat insects :p lol

We have wolf spiders in CA. & they are really big, fast & aggresive!! I'm not afraid of small (harmless) spiders but wolf spiders are so scary - they almost chase you.....Cateeto - thank God the brown recluse was dead - otherwise you'd be - they're extremely venomous & cause severe tissue damage if not treated immediately - we have those in CA. too but mostly in very dry areas. I'd faint if I even saw one! My friend's Mom was bitten by one on the finger & luckily they saved it.

And Hey - Bathgate - I read that article about the taratula too. One of my friends used to have a whole collection of them but he never got one of those - even being an experienced collector, he decided against that one. Good idea.

Hey everybody! I saw a spider today that had a 9 inch dick. He rear naked choked and then mouth fucked a raccoon. I think his name was Phil. I'll never forget that shit.

I think he was wearing a Reds cap backwards. I didn't get too close. I didn't want to step on his dick.
