If no one thinks Dane Cook if funny, how the hell did he become famous?
I think because he's really popular among the 12 - 20 your old demo. My buddy's son just turned 13 and he can recite every Dane Cook bit ever recorded - word for word.
I'm assuming here, but I think the majority of the people here are well outside of that age range.

Eddie Murphy? Your nuts!
You clearly never saw "Delirious" or "Raw".
They will be in history as some of the funniest shows off all time!
I'm shocked on how you could say that.
Even a few years before those two specials, he put out an album of his stand-up stuff. I can't recall the year (1982???), but it was during the early days of his SNL career that this album was released. I remember buying it as a kid. Anyway, it's funny as shit!!!! The only part that wasn't funny was some lame song called "Boogie in your Butt". The bit about his drunk father was classic!!!
Eddie Murphy was the funniest comedian during the 80's. His movies kind of sunk his value as a funnyman, however. I think it also helps to appreciate Eddie Murphy more (and this probably goes for just about any comedian) if you were alive during that era. I don't think he's as funny as Chris Rock, though. And in twenty years, people will probably say Rock wasn't funny!
kinison was funny in that scene in back to school.

This is a strange comment to make considering how HUGE of a fan I am of his TV show, but as a stand-up comedian I never thought Jerry Seinfeld was that amazing. I think as a stand-up, he's a bit over-rated.
However, as a writer and creator of my favorite TV show of all time, I think he's immensely talented.

oh come on, you dont like the little bits at the beginning of the episodes? i thought some of them were great. would i pay to see him do stand up? no. but i think that the bits at the beginning of the earlier episodes were very funny. i dont know if that counts as stand up...
all of the Blue Collar guys and Dane Cook of course
most underrated IMO is Mitch Hedberg
Mitch Hedberg isn't that underrated, anyone who has heard more than 3 lines of his stand up will RAVE about him for years!
MITCH just died WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too young, what a loss!
Eddie Murphy is HILARIOUS in Raw, and his older movies, I just wish he could get over his strange fetish he has for fat black women... Why does he have to play fat women in every movie these days? It is really wierd!

I'm talking about his actual routine. I've seen him live a couple of times, and never thought it was that great. I think I'd rather see Larry David live, than Jerry Seinfeld. Just my opinion though...

oh for sure! larry was always the brains behind seinfeld the show anyway... its funny, i never noticed it before, but in the episode where george is pretending to be a marine biologist someone shouts something from off camera and its definitely larrys voice... thought it was cool... CYE is evidence that everything seinfeld did on his show couldve been even better if it was delivered by larry

Yeah, Larry David is awesome. He's great in Curb Your Enthusiasm...especially this season. I hope they bring back Leon next year...he was funny as hell.
Larry was actually in Seinfeld various times. Besides the marine biologist, his voice was used a lot: he was the original Newman voice (when Newman was threatening to jump off the building in the early seasons...Wayne Knight eventually re-voiced it for syndication purposes), his voice was used to narrate the Rochelle, Rochelle trailer, he voiced the connecting subway trains when Jerry went to Coney Island, etc. He was also an extra in various shows too: he was Frank Costanza's lawyer (who wore a cape) and in the Gum episode when George was dressed as King Henry, he tried buying a pack of gum from a street vendor (Larry David) with a $20 bill with lipstick on Andrew Jackson.

I work a lot of hours. And as far as "old threads"...they're certainly valid and a hell of a lot more interesting to me than reading about what someone is craving or feeling 8 times a day. The video threads are quite old too.
I'd also like to add Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Ron White to the list. I can't stand their stand up and they aren't really that funny.
thank you... jeff foxworthy, larry the cable guy, bill engvall & ron white.... all not funny & get under my skin
