might have already commented on this, but i think wizard and glass is my favorite out of the series. i think the ending really did it for me, it was like a one-two combo and explained so much about who roland is, and why.

This thread is really making me want to read Wizard and Glass again!

I've said it before, but its my favorite too. The backstory on Roland and his gang was perfect. And it was the first book to really give you a sense of what was going on in that world King created.

well there is definitely a role for him in the dark tower series haha
  • Ron Howard to direct three Dark Tower films. Two television seasons in between the films. The three films will be the backbone, while the TV series will go into other stuff. Both will be connected. Sounds interesting!

    I can't freaking wait!!!

I'm interested to see how they'll lay this out. Maybe the first and second books make up the first movie, third book the second movie? Wizard and Glass part of the TV series?...

I just finished it and I did like it better the second time!.. It gets so dark at the end. You really feel Roland's world beginning to unravel.. I totally forgot about Roland's visions in the glass and how they distracted him, shaping the rest of his life.. I really liked the part when Roland, Culbert and Alain ambush Jonas in the dessert. I totally visualized a bad ass scene of them closing in behind the gang in the desert storm, picking three or four riders off before they even knew they were being trailed.. Good reading!

I agree. I'm not too excited about who's doing it, but I'm reserving judgement. I thought Heath Ledger would be horrible as The Joker too and that worked out. I do like that they are giving the material time to really be developed.

I'll have to go back and reread Wizard & Glass - I wasn't crazy about it.

I think my favorite was Wolves of Calla, although it was just barely related to the overall story. :?

Yeah, I have been back and forth on this since the news broke a few weeks ago. I've decided to hold judgement until it gets rolling. Ron Howard is obviously a quality filmmaker, but I didn't like the Da Vinci Code movie, or the other one at all. Indiana Jones lite.

I hope they respect the source material. Surely Howard will realize how important these books are to the fans.

I hope they cut out the "Stephen King" being in it. I don't think that will play well on the screen and will turn a lot of people off.

I'm predicting that the first movie will cover the first two books. The first TV series will be about Wizard & Glass. The second movie will cover the Waste Lands and maybe more. Then the second TV series will be the 5th book (Wolves of Calla). Lastly, the final movie will cover the last two novels.

This is how I see it being panned out, either way I can't wait!

How old is Clint Eastwood? I still say they go with Clint for these movies. Roland always had that feel of someone ancient and old, so put a little dye in Clint's hair, and let's start filming!

I'm not gonna speculate who should play what part, but Clint HAS to do this....

    :)
  • they could make clint look younger just like they did with jeff bridges in tron.

i wonder if little sisters of eluria will get tied in too. i havent read that yet but its suppose to take place before the gunslinger so maybe they will start the movie there....

He is over 80. He can't do it. And he said he is done acting. Would have been nice though.

Rumor has it Viggo Mortenson and Javier Bardem are the leading candidates.

Viggo would be good although his stock dropped after I had to watch his wang fly across my TV during a fight scene in Eastern Promises. One of the most disturbing and unprepared scenes I've witnessed since Kathy Bates went topless in What About Schmidt (that was my all-time worst movie experience ever).

    Why Aragorn, why??? :o:|

what do you guys think about Javier getting the offer to play Roland? I don't think he has decided yet.
