    quite telling

    :(

Yep, it seems like every year when I watch the evening news on this day, there is always a story like this. Quite sad.
  • that poor guy! so those shoppers go and get their cheap TVs that'll probably be obsolete in 6 months. and all the other crap that was made in china in some sweatshop....to just end up at the bottom of a closet somewhere or a landfill.

meanwhile the family and friends of this guy will have to deal with this loss for the rest of their lives.

    people disgust me.

    I have never been there.
I just read somewhere that someone said that if you want to shop all day and then get mugged on your way to your car, then this is the place for you.
And this place has a police station in the mall!
    Wtf?
Yet another reason why everyone is getting scrapbooks and booze for the holiday...No one, I mean NO ONE fights at the liquor store.
    Let's get it together everyone.
Be nice to each other for crying out loud.
Let someone out in traffic, say hi to Santa Claus, give some change to the Salvation Army. That is what the holidays should be about...not this tragedy.
    I can't even stand this. :(
Cause I'm broken when I'm lonesome
And I don't feel right when you're gone away

Not only in America... I've heard of stuff like that happening here... don't think anyone's been killed YET... but that's pure luck.

Not much different than what happened at The WHO concert several years ago in Cincinatti where it was 9 people died from being trampled. This could have been avoided.

yeah all for what to save a few $$$ people are totally nuts ...
jesus greets me looks just like me ....
  • i was at target on the other side of the mall shortly after this. i couldn't understand the enormous crowd (much bigger than expected even with black friday)...and then i heard this story. seems that the walmart crowd took their shopping to target. i don't know about you, but if i was witness to something like this, i'd go home after. who wants to shop after such a tragedy.

whoever said "it wasn't an 80 year old greeter,"--- would that make it "better" in your eyes?? this is disgusting no matter what.

also, i know this mall has a reputation but you guys are making it out to be much worse than it is. as far as distance, i live right in the middle of this mall (green acres) and roosevelt field. and sometimes i actually feel safter at greenacres. it is not "year round brawls" or anything like that. it does have its share of occurences, true... lots of car theft (from what is said, most are insurance jobs though) ..possibly slightly more than some malls but no more than most...in this area...

I'm pretty sure that was meant in that a 34 year old male is in much better physical condition than an 80 year old greeter...i.e. knocked down and trampled easier, hinting at the verocity and carelessness of the crowd, not that it was 'better'. Nice interpretation though.
  • If I ever line up at a Walmart (of all places) the night before to buy cheap crap I don't need...I actually would want to die at that point.

I would welcome death...it would be a relief.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

  • Merry Christmas! I betcha Jesus is proud.

The most horrible thing about this in my opinion is that is takes more than one person to trample a person to death. It's one thing to get knocked down because of some asshole but how many assholes did it take to actually KILL this guy? Isn't it common decency to make sure you're not walking on someone?

While possible, I can't imagine (edit - I CAN imagine it, but you know what I mean) someone insinuating that it would be more acceptable if the guy hadda been 80. I think my interpretation is correct ;)

Even better than that - how many of these fools walked on the guy, know it, and don't give a shit.
  • i hope the folks that walked all over this poor guy were caught on camera, found and get stuck in jail and have to hock all the crap they bought to pay legal fees.

Often it's not actually the fault of the people doing the trampling but because of people from behind pushing... they've nowhere to go but forward :o

I can understand that. I'm quite a cynical fucker myself. We're mostly good people here though.
