I actually read about half of this in high school; I just never got around to finishing it. Here's hoping for a better result this time!

Finally finished this up ... been too busy to read much recently. Pretty good ... f--ing haunting ending, though. :o

Now I'm going to start reading this:

Just started Rick Atkinson's The Guns at Last Light, book three in his Liberation triolgy. If you like books about WWII, he's really really great. An Army at Dawn is the first one, The Day of Battle is number two.

He does like to use big words. That you have to look up sometimes. Like "concupiscence." (Means strong sexual desire. Who knew?)

13 Books of wasted time. I read most of this last book Tuesday night, but guessed where it's heading and have delayed reading the ending. Maybe I'll feel better about it once I've finished. However, I think I'll avoid series books from now on.

I usually like series but this one is really not very good at all. I far prefer what they've done with True Blood!
Are we getting something out of this all-encompassing trip?

Seems my preconceptions are what should have been burned...

Just started reading a book written by a friend I went to college with. Dad or Alive by Adrian Kulp... a true comical story about his becoming a stay at home dad. He has a blog and has articles posted on Huffington post. He used to work for Adam Sandler's Happy Madison productions and Chelea Handlers late night group. I'll post what I think when I finish, but I'm sure I'll be a wee bit biased. I already laughed quite a bit and his wife hasn't even had the kid yet in the story.

If you are a parent or thinking of becoming one I'd recommend his book or blog for some comic relief!

I finally started reading again :D I missed it so much! I'm doing it on the workout machine every day. I need paper backs that are easily bendabe. I finished a book about the cuisine history of Detroit, then the autobiography of Russell Brand (actually quite a good read) and now I started Tortilla Curtain by T.C. Boyle. I found it in a thrift store and gt it because I liked his ther stuff too. So far it's good.

    1. audio book called Sand Sharks (no not about marine life) about a judge at a judge's conference and one of her shady colleagues was murdered. she is a very nosey judge who figured out who did it!
    2. audio book called Cage of Stars
Cage of Stars (ISBN 9780446578752) is a 2006 best-selling novel by Jacquelyn Mitchard.
    Summary

Young Veronica (“Ronnie”) Swan's idyllic life in her Mormon community is shattered when her two younger sisters are brutally murdered by the schizophrenic Scott Early. As a remorseful Early is sentenced to a maximum security facility for the criminally mentally ill, his disability is increasingly tempered by medication and therapy. Guided by their faith, Ronnie’s parents take the unusual steps to visit and ultimately forgive him, as their surviving daughter silently plots to drop her strict religious identity and exact her revenge upon his release.

    3. audio book called The Next Best Thing by Jennifer Weiner. I listened to 3 of the cds and returned it to the library. I think there were FOURTEEN! It truly was about nothing...now Best Friends Forever was a good audio book.

I am now reading Bootlegger's Daughter (paperback) by the same author who wrote Sand Sharks (about the same nosey judge, but it is the first book of the series -- 1992, so she was an attorney then)
