  • Just after Sunset was good and I remember loving The Regulators but haven't read it in a while. Sadly most of my King books are packed away back East :(

Yeah I liked Insomnia and have probably read it three times. Oh you should get Cycle of the Werewolf. I also liked Gerald's Game (although scary because it felt like that could really happen) and I liked how it connected with Dolores Claiborne. Dreamcatcher was a DUD...the first three hundred pages were brilliant...and then veered off into "wtf?" for me.

I have read and re-read 'it' and 'different seasons' I don't know how many times.

yeah, looking over that list i can say for sure i'm going to be getting 'cycle of the werewolf' and 'the colorado kid'.

i've read 'gerald's game' twice. that's one of my favorite king novels. and i'm with you on how he blended it with 'dolores claiborne' (another great read). haven't read dreamcatcher yet, but i did see the movie. it was "meh".

i've also read 'it' twice (the first time i read it, i was about 17 and it took me a year to get through it. second time was about a year ago and i defeated it in less than a month...that book is a beast.) i also read different seasons, but only once.

i'm almost done re-reading 'needful things' by stephen king. on deck is 'the stand'. that'll be the third time reading that one.

I haven't felt like reading lately and I have thought of re-reading a King book to get me back in the swing. I have about 5/6 books in various stages of being finished and I never really feel like picking one up. I went through a similiar mood a couple of summers ago and I read "Salem's Lot" and it got me out of it.

Another Stephen King fan?! Nice. I know some people didn't like 'needful things' but I liked it...of course I really liked 'insomnia' and I have friends that are King fans that thought it was boring. To each their own. I always enjoy re-reading them. Although I still have to finish 'the dome'

King fan here too! There's quite a few on this thread. I enjoyed "Dome" a lot, and "Needful Things" and "Insomnia". "Insomnia" was really fun reading it when it first came out because it was the first time I remember noticing all the Dark Tower connections. I was looking at a Dark Tower site last night and it made me want to re-read those books because there was a lot I forgot.

It was just announced he has a 4 story book (a la "Four Past Midnight") coming out in November called "Full Dark, No Stars".

oh, you said you loved insomnia......i read that one.....years ago. wasn't really a fan of it, but i think i'll give it another shot. not exactly a typical king novel, from what i can remember. personally, the one king novel i didn't really care for was 'cell'. i loved how it started, he got right to it immediately, but it fizzled fast for me.

You should re-read Insomnia. Some of his books are better the second time. I hated Dark Tower 4 the first time and loved it the second time.

I was at the library the other day and they had the Bachman Books for .25. I think I will go back and get it. You can't get it anymore because he didn't want "Rage" out there with all the school shootings.

"Roadwork" by Stephen King (as Richard Bachman).

Ties in nicely with the conversation above, I see... Please, carry on :D

I've never read Insomnia. I should add that to the list.

But I just finished It which I'd never read before. Loved it, except the end got a little funky.

I am also trying to recall if Rose Madder had a small link with those two books as well? After having read Dreamcatcher I had NO desire to see the movie...started off well and then just fell off. Different Seasons is worth giving a second read or so to. I love those stories.
  • wow, look at all the king fans here. that's awesome.

yeah, i'll definitely re-read 'insomnia'. maybe i couldn't get into it because i never read any of the dark tower books, so i wasn't able to make any connections.

i've gone over those books that are in that auction that i won, and i've decided i'm going to pick the following:

    the colorado kid
    cycle of the werewolf
    firestarter
    insomnia
    rose madder
    lisey's story
    the talisman
    storm of the century
    christine
    pet sematary

Gerald's Game and Dolores Claiborne are linked. I don't think Rose Madder has any link to anything other than the Dark Tower.

Cool. I still think my favorite Bachman book is Roadwork. But The Long Walk is awesome too. I know someone was trying to make that into a movie but not sure what happened to it.

I think King has really rebounded with his last couple of books (Duma Key and The Dome). I was starting to lose faith after Dreamcatcher.
