i think Michael is the man on the boat.

And what about the auction? The picture of "THE BLACK PEARL" that was lost at sea in the 1800's? The Black Pearl is Russo's boat! What was that all about? Did they time travel as well?

It wasn't Rousso's boat though? It was the "jimmy walker" boat.

Yes, it was the slave ship where the dynamite was kept.

  • jimmy walker said dynamite.

But rousso was on the survey boat? right? Not the slave ship. I agree that the boat from the auction was the boat with the dynamite. What was her boat called?

I don't think Rousseau's boat name has been revealed. But the slave ship is the Black Rock.

So was the sickness that killed Rousseau's crew and the sickness that has been referred to on the island since the beginning have to do with what killed Minkowski tonight and what affected Desmond?

It seems Farraday was aware of it and that's why he had Desmond's name written in his journal.

  • I don't know how familiar you guys are with Kurt Vonnegut, but I'm a huge fan, and it was really cool to see a character on one of my favourite shows become "unstuck in time." Also, the second time Desmond became unstuck in time, he had a conversation with a fellow army member named Billy, an obvious reference to Vonnegut's character Billy Pilgrim, who became unstuck in time in Slaughterhouse-Five.

Also, I love this thread, I check it all the time and I'll probably be posting in here more often from now on. You guys come up with some great theories!

The thing is if Farrady met Desmond in the past wouldn't he have recognized him when he saw him a last week.

    .
I think the card thing the week before (and possibly when 1996 Desmond asked him "what about your head?" when Faraday put on the radiation apron)set up that Faraday may have some memory issues, therefore might have forgotten about the meeting with Des.

Either that or it didn't happen in his past until this occured and "changed" his past (one of those time travel conundrum things), and thats why he finds the passage about Desmond Hume being his constant in his journal which may not have been there before.

Yeah Charles Widmore won the auction for the log from the Black Rock.
On this show there are no coincidences, so I think that Widmore is way involved in the island.

And in the auction they mentioned the Black Rock's journey was commissioned by someone named Hanso.

That's what I figured. I don't know if Faraday's (or Penny's, for that matter) memory will begin to alter to include new events in the past (was it a coincidence that Penny was home with the same phone number on Christmas Eve or did she remember their encounter?), but when Faraday and Desmond met on the island, that was the first time they had met, so there wouldn't be any familiarity, at the time. The past hadn't changed until after this meeting. Also, as someone mentioned, time travel is difficult to pull off on tv and movies, so there will be inconsistencies.

Another great theory. Strange that it has been more widespread among the Oceanic crowd.
