It didn't sound like the typical silencer sound for gunshots that movies/tv shows use. I don't know if that is the real sound a silencer would make. To me it seemed pretty obvious it was arrows, but who knows?

knowing this show it could be laser beams from outer space!
I think Sayid screwed up by tattling on Michael. I wouldn't trust Michael either if I was Sayid, but I sure wouldn't have trusted the Captain enough to fill him on Michael's secrets. Sayid is aware that the boat is not there to rescue them. He should be more suspicious of the Captain.

I'm sure Sayid has a plan, he doesn't trust the Captain, but he's using Michael as a chip of some sort.
And I can't imagine arrows being the weapon, we saw Carl's water canteen suddenly spring a leak, and saw Rousseau holding a wound with no evidence of arrows....usually an arrow sticks in its target, doesn't pass right through.

I say bullets.
I hope Sayid has a plan.
I agree - no arrows. It was a gun. And I think Ben is the guilty party. Not that he actually pulled the trigger, but that he arranged it.

My thoughts are that it was a gun. I don't think the sound was the silencer. It was the sound of the bullets swooshing through the air. And yes, I don't know if any of you have been that near a speeding bullet, but that is kind of the sound that it makes. I was almost hit one time while sunning in my family's back yard. It took two shots for me to realize what it was. Lucky I wasn't killed.

DAMN RIVER!! Thank the Lord you are alive. That is scary stuff!!
I agree, i think it was a gun, not sure if it was s ilencer or not though.
I think Sayid id torn. He doesn't trust Michael, so it may be hard for him to trust his comment about not trusting the captain.

Possibly a sniper rifle??? It was not arrows.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
I would say it had to be gun shots. No arrows to be seen. I just don't think it was The Others who shot them. Ben was sending them to The Temple where The Others supposedly are. I don't think they needed to ambush them and I'm not sure they would want to. I think it's some people from the boat who took the helicopter to the island. Alex seems to think it is someone else or she wouldn't have announced herself as Ben's daughter. The Others already know her very well. Guess we will have to wait till April or whenever it comes back to find out some answers.
I don't know about ya'll...but I have decided that Miles is the person I'd least like to have around. Anyone who can look at me and blab my secrets would not be my idea of "good company."
Yeah, and he's a little smart ass too. I still want to know how he was able to survive the grenade in the mouth incident. I bet he's not as eager to run his mouth now.
I only have five episodes to go before I can read this thread without anything being spoiled. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself when I can't watch 3 episodes a day anymore. I watched my first episode of Lost like 3 weeks ago.
i don't think sayid would have acted like that if he was torn, though.
i agree that i think he has a plan... he's not the type to do things haphazardly. i think he knows what he's doing. (i hope!)
I agree that he has a plan.. much like the trade Miles for Charlotte plan he had and never told anyone.... and it was gunshots, maybe with a silencer but definitely gunshots.

Do you think he is setting up the captain and going to side with Micahel, or do you think he really does not trust Michael?

So, Alex is working with Benry and set up her bf and mommy to get assassinated?
HHMM, i need to see that, doesn;t sound right, but would explain..MAYBE...why she stood up and announced who she was. Obviously it was to save herself, but maybe it was a little more behind it.

Well, I'm pretty much caught up.. I only have the Kevin Johnson episode to watch, which I'll do tomorrow. 70-something episodes in 3 1/2 weeks. The first half of season 3 wasn't as bad as people said it was. The series seemed just as fluid through out. Perhaps season 2 might be my favored season so far.
And I take back my earlier statements.. Desmond does kind of resemble Eddie.

ben told alex that they would be coming after her to get to him. i think she did that because she figured if the shooters were people looking for ben they would keep her alive to get to him.
I know this post isn't all about Lost, but for my 10,000th post I figured I'd post in the thread that I spend most of my time in.
I just want to give a shout out to all my good friends I've made on here and hopefully I'll get to catch up with more than a few of you on this coming tour. I've really made some friends for life on here and if it wasn't for our mutual love of PJ that never would have happened.
It's nuts to think I joined the old board almost 5 years ago today "April 29, 2003" because I just had to post my reaction to the Spectrum show and now I have 10,000 posts on here ... lol
Anyways, a lot has changed since then - been to 35 PJ shows since, seen 2 Red Sox World Series Championships, and loved every minute of Lost.
Anyways, thanks for listening to my little rant and I can't wait till Lost gets back on the air.
Here's an interesting article about Lost to celebrate Thursday! There is one tiny mention of a word on the first page that possibly could be seen as spoilerish, but I don't think it is and I am big on not seeing spoilers. Just wanted to give warning.
It's 3 pages with the first giving grades to all the episodes this season so far and the 2nd and 3rd discussing "Meet Kevin Johnson".
The most interesting thing in the article to me was that he says the producers said by the end of "MKJ" we would know why Jack couldn't commit suicide. Then he explains that he thinks Jack is similiar to Michael in not being able to off himself and gives some interesting-and headache inducing-reasons why this could be.

I don't know. I got the impression it was arrows.
lostpedia mentions silenced gunshots
I guess we will find out
