As a child of the 80s I can only wish my future children will be able to enjoy the greatness of the 80s. I think society and culture gets worse and worse as each decade pushes on. The 60s were good times, the 70s, well where do we bein??!! And the 80s were pretty freaking awesome and glad to be a part of it, but now... ooofffaahh, I'm scared to have kids and bring them up in this shit. I'll be the dad telling his kids over and over, "back in the 80s..."

    no way, looney tunes rules!
I'm pretty sure looney tunes has been around since like the 1930s..

    Actually 1930 to 1969.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looney_Tunes

It didn't really have much to do with the 70s besides re-runs, but we had those in the 80s too anyways. :p
  • I don't think it's really fair to say but I did love 'my little pony' and 'the care bears'. :D Swoooon :)

And for people bitching about crappy 80s music, think again...

R.E.M., The Cure, U2, 80s Ramones, The Psychedelic Furs, The Fixx, Depeche Mode, The Police, The Alarm, Springsteen, The Clash, Crowded House, The Flaming Lips, Guns 'n Roses, Michael Jackson, 80s David Bowie, The Smiths, Modern English, New Order, 80s Neil Young, Social Distortion, Talking Heads, Tom Petty,..

Besides Pearl Jam, I'll take 80s music over 90s music anyday, and I was too young to be a real music fan, I discovered most of these bands this decade..

I dunno, 70s might have been better

Something tells me college before AIDS and raising the drinking age to 21 must have been some kinda fun

And think about the concerts in the 70s!
Yeah, nothing like a morning of watching Muppet Babies, eating fruit loops and playing Transformers followed by an afternoon of sex, drugs and rock and roll.

I'm sorry.. but, I remember the 1980s as being a bit of a cultural void. The music was pretty bad except for hold over bands such as the Clash and Ramones, Elvis Costello and some of those 70s New Wave bands. I believe that the only band of the 80s with relevance is U2... and maybe REM.
And the fashion... day glo pastels... leg warmers and head bands. Nice.
And there was the threat of the nuclear exchange with the Soviet Union... that was not so good. Neither was Gay Related Immune Deficiency syndrome (a.k.a. AIDS).
Not that the 70s were all great. We had our share of horrible corporate stadium rock and DISCO... but, we did have The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath holding down the Rock banner. And we got the Punk Rock scene.
We also had some pretty bad fashion... mostly blamed on DISCO. But, the drugs were good and it was easy to get laid.
Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!
    Hail, Hail!!!

Besides Pearl Jam, I can think of waaay more bands from the 80s I like over the 90s.

Oh c'mon... eighties pop music was better than modern pop music! :D Maybe history has made some of it more, erm, respectable? but it was certainly more fun than the stuff nowadays.

I mean think about it.. Star Wars on home video, The Goonies, The Smurfs, Muppet Babies, Back to the Future, The Cosby show, Family Ties, The Never Ending Story, Jim Henson movies, Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, Ninja Turtles, The Dark Crystal, Indiana Jones, Pogo Ball, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Different Strokes, Growing Pains, Pee Wee, Gloworms, Pound Puppies, He-man, Pac-man, Super Mario Bros., Zelda, N.E.S., Who's the Boss, Ghostbusters!.. Not to mention all the cheesy action movies we know we love.

I mean, what did they have in the 70s, the Bad News Bears?.. In the 90s, Barney??

Am I biased or were children of the 80s spoiled?

Any more to add to my list? :D
it was AWESOME growing up in the 80's
