I don't know why we just can't kick this cancer's ass and be done with it but, apparently, it's not one that will ever STAY away

with the most recent chemo, we have to watch for hemorrhagic cystitis....basically the pooling of toxic pee in gracie's bladder. I got the total WTF look from her when I woke her from a deep sleep to go pee at 3 a.m. :wtf:

Lyla got a bed last night. so we put the bed in our room with her blanket on top of it and she slept there the entire night. I guess we're gonna start weening her out of the crate. I've been doing it for an hour or so while I work in my office. She's been doing great. Too Soon?

Not too early for night-time sleeping... if she's making it thru the night w/out any accidents... or she at least knows how to wake you up if she needs to go out.

You're keeping her crated when you leave her home alone? You'll learn when she's ready to be left out full time. My dog will never have that privilege as long as I have a cat and a wood stove... but he's almost 10 now and has known nothing else, so I think he finds security in it. If we left him out all day, he'd probably just be up waiting for us to come home, terrorizing the cat...getting up at every sound and looking out windows... In his crate, he knows the deal. Sleep until we get home. And it makes it easy when we stay at hotels... bring the crate and don't have to worry about any expensive mishaps in the hotel room.

Yeah. She definitely knows when to wake us up and go to the bathroom. Which she hasn't done much of since we got her. We haven't left the house yet with her out of the crate but I have been shutting my door while I work. I usually check on her after an hour or so and give her a treat if all is well.

I think if I was going to start testing the waters with leaving I would take her for a walk first and tire her out.

That and practice an " open stay" meaning you make her
Stay I'm the crate with the door open and let her come
Out after you've left. Works like a charm..

Brian is outside the kitchen door and desperate to come in. You can't tell how wet he is in the photo but he's soaking. He loves playing with the hose when my husband is watering. Poor Brian.

(LloydXmas - Lyla is so cute I can't stand it.)
