    Well, this has worked for me when a dog (usually a puppy) wants to nip while playing. When the nip happens, pull back very dramatically and say "OW!" very loudly. If 2 dogs are playing and one gets too rough, that is essentially what the other dog will do--yelp and stop playing. Try that first with Nails. It's not punitive and it lets him know he's not supposed to do that.

    Petey ended up having Valley Fever. This is a mold spore found in desert areas that effect humans and animals. Some people get pneumonia like symptoms. Others can just get the neurological part of the virus.

    Petey didnt show any signs of being sick. He sneezed a lot but we were told it allergies. The Valley Fever is what caused the seizures. It was contracted a minimal of a year ago the Vet says and because he was so young and healthy he just didnt show any signs until it was to late. The disease spread into his nervous system and the size of the seizures and the frequency caused just to much brain damage it was in his best interest to let him go.

    As you can tell we are all saddened. But it was very uplifting for us and especially my young one to read all your positive wishes and heart felt prayers.

    I couldnt stand the fact of some one taking my dog so I took him out to his favorite walk along the mountains and laid him to rest there so he can watch the sun set. We will think of him at every sun set now. There will be not be another goofy dog quiet like Petey. He will be loved and always missed.

    Maybe PJ can play Sad from Lost Dogs on Sunday in memory of Petey.

    Lovely story. :D

    My vet recently told me about that laser therapy for dogs with arthritis. He will be installing it in his clinic soon. Nice to know it will be available if my fur-kids every need it.

    actually, i was really round of norm...when i brought him over for the picture everybody kinda surrounded him and he didn't freak out...an entire weekend and no one got bitten!! :lol::mrgreen:

    You know, it's been fun to matching names on here to the photos from the show. But I was REALLY expecting a photo of Gracie and Norm. My heart is broken. Did they at least have a good time? Were there any other dogs there?

    gracie and norm met at rob's house...as his usual self, norm gave her a couple snifs and then proceeded to snif every inch of their backyard and mark the hell out of it...it's what he does (ocd much)...norm is still on doctor's orders not to play with dogs and needs to be "confined"...so he didn't get a lot of time with gracie...and once in mt, there was so much going on and so little time we never met them up again :(

    ^^^^^ little norm was invited in, but was apparently going to mark the whole house :shock: :lol: . he and gracie had a QUICK meet and greet....

    I don't know who was more tired after missoula - me or gracie. she barely got left in the room. it was go, go, go for both of us. she slept the entire 8 hours of the ride home :mrgreen:
