  • It's a virtual earthquake party going on over there apparently...

by the way everyone from LA is posting, I asume everything is alright.....I hope so anyway.....On the news they said that L.A has a 99% chance of getting a BIG earthquake of 6.8 or greater at some point.....I dont know what would freak me out more living in tornadoville or earthquake country.

I'm in Hermosa Beach...that was sooooo weird. Being from NJ, we don't have "earthquake preparedness" so the 3 of us that are home didn't know what to do!!!
None of our cells are working and we have Sprint, Verizon and AT&T.

Thanks Cosmo - my cell is dead so wasn't able to call anyway - I'll call from home tonight.

Hope everyone else is doing okay :)

    Hope everyone is ok.

Initially, I thought this was a thread dedicated to the late John Tenta.

Yeah, everything is A-OK. My sister just emailed me some details about our kids going to summer camp and she didn't mention the quake at all. Funny, it's like a normal part of life here in LA.

.........but I will say I am still a little freaked. It was really really long...........just kept going..........like this lame post..........I just keep typing.........

I am downtown and felt a nice jolt followed by rolling. The building I'm in wobbled for 2-3 minutes. I'm sure that was the building wobbling for a long time after the ground stopped shaking. Our building is 50 floors high.

Yorba Linda/Placentia is to the East of us, in the direction of the epicenter but not at the epicenter. If I felt what I felt, they definitely got hit. They probably felt it stronger than I did in LA. A lot has to do with the soil. If you are on rock, or hard soil, you'll feel less. And if you are on soft, sandy soil, you'll feel more. I just heard on the news that Angel stadium felt it hard but no damage. Anaheim is pretty close to Yorba Linda.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

I'd much rather live where there are earthquakes. Unlike tornados, we don't have "earthquake season" ;) Plus *most* of the time the damage is minimal. I'm pretty used to them by now. Although I knew this one was big b/c I actually got my lazy ass this time & stood under a doorway! HAHAHAHA

I love whoever said they took their lunch w/ them under their table. That's SO me! :D

Sorry!! damn--you miss ALL the good stuff.

My kid is living in W. Covina (close near the epicenter) but happens to be in Mammoth Lakes right now.

we're OK here in Hermosa Beach, just don't have any cell service (we've got Verizon, Sprint and ATT).

that was sooooo freaky! Glad everyone is ok so far.
