Tip your hat to the kid...in yesterday's preseason finale, a 4-3 CTWhale victory over Worcester, Chris Kreider scored his first hat trick since high school.

Question for the Rangers fans. How do you feel about the Richards contract? As a (somewhat) disinterested observer I remember thinking last year that they drastically overpaid for him. I know sometimes guys need a year to adjust to new setting but I have the feeling he's getting about $3 million too much a year

too bad we wont get to compare this season with the past,
somehow it wouldnt seem so bad if they were actually playing .
And yes everything costs more in NYC,
& believe me all of the teams in the NHL benefit from the NY market.

In lieu of the lockout, I hope MSG Network airs some more of The Whale
since theres bound to be holes in their scheduling.
It will be so wild to see big # 23 behind the benches coaching.

Madison Square Garden underwent a massive refurbishing in the last year. During the summer, the New York Rangers’ various championship banners and retired numbers were re-hoisted to the rafters. Included among them: a 2011-12 Atlantic Division Champions banner, commemorating the Rangers capturing the division crown for the first time since 1994.
That’s right: Despite the lockout keeping NHL hockey off of the Garden ice since May, the Rangers still hung their title banner.
Question is: Would they even have had a banner raising ceremony if the lockout hadn’t happened?
We’ve had many a debate here on Puck Daddy about the value of division championships. For example: If you’re a Rangers fan, do you own anything commemorating the title considering the fact that the Blueshirts fell short of a conference championship, losing to the hated New Jersey Devils no less?
For an Original Six team, a division title banner raising really isn’t mandatory. Now, if the Florida Panthers squander a chance to have a banner-raising party for their first division title in franchise history … that’s another story.

Maybe they will still have some sort of ceremony when/if they ever come back?

Nah, generally they only have on ice ceremonies for Conferences , or Cups.
Besides, it's already hanging up on the big round ceiling.
Thats why its pretty funny, only Knick fans even get to see it.
