It's actually weird to say, but hockey has never been better than in the years following the lockout. That being said, it'd be interesting to see what happens whenever their CBA is up. Personally in this, I can't fault the players, nobody is telling the owners to sign guys to 12 or 15 year contracts.
    [/quote]

totally. too bad the shootout gets the most attention for post lockout rules while other good ones get completely over looked (moving the blue line back 4 feet each end, no two line pass, no clutching & grabbing, etc). a lot of people think that the shootout was the only aspect of the game that changed, and as a whole think the lockout was bad for the sport. the game is a better today than it was years ago.

watching the throw back games on MSG & NHL network is a funny thing. the evolution of the game has been something else. as late as the late 90's you were literally allowed to tackle someone, hold them up, and not get a call.

one thing i've been begging for for a long time: soccer style point system. 3 points for a win, 1 point for an OT loss (or even tie if they bring back ties and elimiate the shootout). need more separation between teams racking up OT points and teams winning in regulation.

and wait until the next labor dispute whenever that is, it'll be hard to side with owners when they're giving nine and 10 year contracts.

This is an Original 6 team, which is very special as a hockey player to play for. I've seen how Torts operates, its worked, I know that firsthand, and I can see how he's bringing this young team along in New York." -Brad Richards

Think it has to be Cally. Love having a New York guy (albeit upstate) as Captain. I like the mix the Rangers have now. Thought we were goin places with the Czech line, but we are more well rounded now.

Congrats on the Richards signing. I figured he was going there all along. But was hoping the Leafs would pull out some majic. Now we settle with Connelly, not to sure about him, think he is too fragile

Fedetenko gave up # 19 for Richards.

    large.jpg?1309973419

    http://blueshirtsunited.com/posts/587-b ... oses-no-19

Brad Richards made his first public appearance as a Ranger on Wednesday, skating with children from the Garden of Dreams Foundation at the MSG Training Center, and he unveiled his new Rangers jersey, No. 19. Ruslan Fedotenko, who wore No. 19 last season, was happy to give that number to his former Tampa Bay Lightning teammate, saying, "We're good guys in hockey, I didn't ask him for anything in exchange for the number!" Richards later said that he plans on getting a gift for Fedotenko, who, in turn, contacted Erik Christensen and received permission to switch to his favorite jersey number, Erik's former 26, next season. Christensen has chosen to wear No. 40 in 2011-12, and another Rangers newcomer, Mike Rupp, will wear No. 71. Previously, Richards wore No. 19 as a member of the Lightning, but had been No. 91 ever since while playing for the Dallas Stars.
