It was a good game to watch tonight. I love the interference major against Orr. That has to be the first 5 minute interference penalty in NHL history.

Avery and Orr must have kicked some heart into Jagr tonight. I find it amusing that Jagr can still be the best player in the NHL on any given night, yet he only shows up to 1 out of every 20 games. Players get down when they watch the best player on the team go through the motions every night. If the Rangers got rid of Jagr they still might be able to do something more than battle the Islanders for the 8th seed this year.

probably jagr's best game of the season, still hard to believe he doesn't have 10 goals yet, but hopefully this is a start.

    JAGR

"I didn't pay attention to that. "I know it was a long time.
It's not easy. It's not easy for the confidence. Even when you
have your chances and you don't score for a long time, sometimes
you do something you wouldn't do when you are hot, when you are
    on a streak."

"I was just in the right place at the time "I was
hoping it was going to get to me."

    GOMEZ

"We know it's going to come, especially with Jags. He's hit
posts. He's played great. He's shooting
the puck now, which is (big). He's dominating and I think
it was going to come. But I think the key is he's shooting it."

Also, I thought Avery had his best game of the season but this type of game from Jagr is much
more important. It's very telling in kind of a negative way when the Rangers' success record-wise
is dictated by someone like Avery when you consider some of the proven scorers on the roster.

    Jagr To Phoenix ?

Rangers Rumors: Jaromir Jagr to Phoenix?
by Daniel Sallows (Scribe) 11 comments
Filed Under: NHL, NHL Atlantic, New York Rangers, Jaromir Jagr

There's a cold chill in New York this winter—and no, it's not the weather.

Once the toast of the NHL for their summer free-agent signings, the New York Rangers are 2-7-2 in their last 11 games.

Of course, the season is far from over, and there's no reason to push the panic button just yet. But as teams like the New Jersey Devils, Pittsburgh Penguins, and New York Islanders climb the standings, the Rangers need to right the ship sooner rather than later.

    The result?

Trade rumors buzzing around the Big Apple—about a multiplayer deal that could make a short- and long-term impact for both teams involved:

Jaromir Jagr, Michal Roszival, and Petr Prucha to the Phoenix Coyotes for Shane Doan and Ed Jovanovski.

The deal makes sense for both clubs.

I don't like ripping on Jaromir Jagr—I'm actually a huge fan, and wore 68 in my last year of playing—but it's time for a change in Manhattan.

Wayne Gretzky, meanwhile, has a young squad in Phoenix that will once again struggle to make the playoffs—and could use a veteran like Jagr to bring the club together.

In Roszival, the Coyotes would get a quality power-play defenseman who will bolster a lackluster offense. Prucha could catch fire with a new coach in a new setting.

The Rangers get another solid two-way player in Doan, who's a bona fide captain and has played under Tom Renney. In Jovanovski, they get an experienced defensemen who can also help a struggling power play unit—which has seen five forwards on the ice more often than not.

The Coyotes tried to unload Jovanovski early in the season, but there were no takers. Making a deal now would show their dwindling fanbase they actually care about the future.

As I see it, this trade makes more sense than not. Jagr could get hot for the Desert Dogs, and would be their undisputed No. 1 guy—something he can't be in New York with the Rangers' cast of superstars.

or did it look like Malik was cowering away from Nolan ( Isles coachs son ) when called out to drop the gloves ?

Not to mention him not clearing the puck out of the zone when Canes went on the PP , ... and then went up 2-1 at the end of the 1st ?

    also :

i am still groveling trying to get either a ticket or a pair of tickets for Brian Leetch Night,
    1-24-08 , against Atlanta .
Please PM me if you can offer anything.
I will pay above face , but within reason .
    thanks.

    BEHIND ENEMY LINES
    AVERY SET FOR TORONTO VISIT

    By LARRY BROOKS
BIG HIT:After a pre-game brawl on Nov. 10 in Toronto, Sean Avery plans to limit his big hits to the actual game against the Maple Leafs.
December 28, 2007 -- The Border Patrol needn't erect a fence at center-ice of the ACC rink when the Rangers visit Toronto tomorrow night. No. 1 Public Enemy Sean Avery has no intention of crossing into enemy territory or even going anywhere near the red line during the pre-game warm-up.

    BLOG: The Blue Seats

"I was told [by NHL VP Colin Campbell] not to do that," Avery, whose Nov. 10 pre-game joust with Darcy Tucker on the Blueshirts' last trip to Toronto ignited a furor and earned the agent provocateur a summons to the Vice Principal's office. "When you're told something, you're supposed to listen.

"In this case I chose to do that."

Avery has assiduously stayed out of pre-game trouble since being fined and put on notice by Campbell. In discussing his return to Toronto, Avery yesterday screwed on his best Dead-End Kid face and proceeded to disrespect the city and more.

"I never enjoy going to Toronto," said Avery, who hails from nearby Pickering, approximately 25 miles away. When asked why, he rattled off three responses.

"Because I don't enjoy hockey-obsessed Canadians; because the exchange rate is not very good; because it's going to cost me a lot of money for tickets for people I don't like."

    Goodnight everybody!

Avery and Tucker have faced each other twice since Avery became a Ranger. They fought in each game. They have sparred figuratively with words and literally with their sticks.

"I'm sure [everyone] will be all fired up, but I'm just going to play the game I play; a Sean Avery-type game."

Avery disclosed that his libel suits have been served on multiple parties in the aftermath of the reporting of what was said - rather, what was NOT said - to provoke the Nov. 10 fracas. According to Avery, papers have been served on radio reporter Howard Berger, Toronto radio station FAN590 and parent company Rogers Broadcasting, and the Toronto Star and writer Rosie DiManno for her column that ran in the Nov. 15 edition of the paper.

When were they served? "Christmas or Christmas Eve," said Avery, suing over the report that charged that he had made reference to Jason Blake's medical condition. "It's going to court."

    *

The Rangers are formally requesting NHL Director of Officiating Stephen Walkom to rescind the game misconduct assessed to Colton Orr in Wednesday's victory over the Hurricanes.

Orr received a game misconduct in addition to a five-minute major for interference for the second period collision that sent Matt Cullen face-first to the ice. Cullen, who was cutting from right to left with the puck and his head down, briefly lost consciousness and sustained a broken nose upon impact with the ice.

There was no immediate signal for a penalty. When Cullen's injury became obvious-and only after Orr was jumped by Mike Commodore, who escaped without an instigator penalty referees Dean Warren and Marc Joannette and linesmen Brian Murphy and Anthony Sericolo convened at the boards. The discussion yielded the verdict.

"We were both coming pretty hard. We were both just coming to the middle," said Orr, who did not finish the check so much as find himself unable to avoid it, and who suffered several cuts around the right eye when he was hit with Cullen's helmet. "I was just defending myself."

"I don't want to see anyone get hurt, but I need to protect myself, as well."

Argh -- now I am going to have to suffer through a freaking Leafs game just to watch the Avery side show.

And you guys that were saying that Jovo is not enough for Jagr are insane. Getting the Jagr anchor off of the Rangers would immediately improve the Rangers. If I were Sather I would dump him to a division rival (Devils?) for nothing so he can weigh them down for the rest of the year.
