Wednesday: LHP Andy Pettitte (12-9, 4.30) vs. LHP David Purcey (2-3, 5.93) 7:07, YES
Thursday: RHP Sidney Ponson (7-3, 4.20) vs. RHP Roy Halladay (14-9, 2.64) 7:07, YES
They definately go in with some momemtum, but Burnett and Halladay will be tough. Hopefully they get to one of them and beat up on the Purcey kid. Why does Burnett suck against every other team? (4.67 ERA) And why can't they get someone, anyone, besides Rasner? Call me nuts, stupid, whatever you want. I really think Pavano will pitch outstanding when he make sit back. I know he hasn't earned one single dollar from his $40 million deal, but it's up at the end of the year, and the man needs to feed his family.0 -

only complete douchebags base a guy on 1 start.

wow, now that's predictable. a Sox win, and you're back. 4.34 ERA, over 20+ starts. And Byrd was only good lasy year cause he was on HGH. Off the HGH, he's a joke. Have fun watching that.0

I guess the fact the Sox have gotten one start of Byrd so far for about a million dollars for the rest of the season is a bad investment as a fifth starter. I mean the Yanks have only paid Pavano 29 million (counting this year) for 2 total starts the last 3 seasons.
Byrd is what he is, but he also has a 1.98 era since the break so maybe he's back on HGH again.
He won't even be on the post season roster most likely, but for the dogs days of summer he's a good innings eater.- Busted down the pretext

SIX!?? You definitely have high expectations!
While we could use it, I'm sure he won't get into the third......but we'll see.
I am really boggled by them using him. I am sure there are other prospects that are pitching better than him right now. I think they may be trying to catch lightning in a bottle......or get a few more games out of all that $$$ they paid him.
And we need to go on our best winning streak starting tonight. I know we have to face 2 very good starters in Burnett & Halladay, but we have to find ways to win.My lips are shaking.......0 -

Did they call him up? I guess they are going to have to some time soon because he's no longer hurt.
Matsui hitting 7th tonight. Not sure how much he will be able to provide at this point, but I do know that he was badly missed this season. He doesn't get enough credit. He's steady and consistent and one of the better clutch hitters on this team.Brian0 -

yeah, they should have known when they signed him (and about a dozen other teams lusted after him, Boston included) they he'd be constantly hurt and show no heart. Everyone forgets Carlapalooza, and the fact that so many teams wanted him.0 -

wow. i was really expecting something out of him, if only because his contract is up. But if he really misses a start for a stiff neck, it just proves he really is heartless, gutless. The best he'll be able to hope for is a minor league invite next year0 -

I believe this weekend when the Yanks come to Camden Yards the 100,000,000 fan in O's history will win $100,000. Another nice haul for some fan.
