reggie jackson is at the game...who else here ate a reggie bar besides me0

I really hope Gardner is the full time CF in 2009. He just went from 1st to third on a ground ball to short that was booted, and scored on a fly ball hit about 30 feet behind SS. Give him a year batting 9th, and then he's the leadoff man. He'll steal 75 bases.0
-
I like how they took out Jeter in the bottom of the 9th just now for some well deserved respect, that was cool.

wow sportscenter leading with the pats loss.
i am shocked and disappointed, not because the pats lost, because yankee stadium deserved to be the lead off. classless move by SC.Let's not be negative now. Thumper has spoken0 -

Yeah but ESPN did a whole piece on Memories from Yankee Stadium and that was nice. I think it would've led SC if the Yanks were in first place or had a chance for the post season.

If the stadium is so special, why are they knocking it down?I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either.0

Last night gave me chills
1st no postseason for me in 10 years
Bernie got what he deserved. Him, O'Neil,Jeter,Martinez,Cone,Brosius,Pettite,Rivera and countless others were a big part of my formative years.
Didn't go to the playoffs in '96, the parade was unreal. My favorite moment was Tino's Grandslam in '98 series vs. the Padres.I had good seats
I wish I were at the 2001 ws...the 3 games in the Bronx were insane...especially after 9/11.Too bad we lost that series
I have no doubt the new stadium will be broken in properly. Here's to a strong offseason with smart moves and letting some of the younger guys come up.0 -

when they went to the mound after the game, it was funny with the derek jeter chant, he had to quickly tip his hat to acknowleget the crowd to silence them. again though, i do not see the facination with the closing of a 33 year old stadium.I don't want to be hostile. I don't want to be dismal. But I don't want to rot in an apathetic existance either.0

you mean an 85 year old stadium that was renovated 33 years ago.
even if you only want to count the last 33 years, there have been a lot a special moments and big time players to play there. unlike that dump in queens..i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam0 -

Loved seeing the tribute to my favorite Yankee....Thurman Munson. All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.0

still breathing, albeit barely, witha Cleveland victory over Boston.
By the way, money is no doubt a large part of why they're mmoving across the street. But don't forget---the place IS falling apart, literally. A few years ago, a 500 pound slab of concrete fell from the upper deck. If it happened during a game, people would have been killed. A friend recently took the stadium tour. There were puddles in the dugout, on a nice day. Phone wires ran roughshod all over the place. I'm not saying that they could not have continued to play at the current venue, but I think they had to either move, or do some massive upgrading0
