    right now, i have no interest in discussing the yankees, the four-hour rain delay, or bob davidson's astonishing level of professionalism. but this gang merch thing is really interesting...

    wow. i didn't realize that this was their symbol. maybe i should have known. i work for a minor league basketball team whose team colors are black and gold and whose symbol is--you guessed it--a gold crown.

    anyone want to take a wild guess as to what our merch looks like?

    we even carry a black baseball cap with a gold embroidered crown, probably very similar to the one mentioned above. i didn't know. nobody did. i'd probably be really bent out of shape about this if i actually cared about my job. oh well...

    but the point is that these things happen. people aren't always as aware as they should be. personally, i always found it amusing that you could buy yankees and giants jerseys in bright red. the only people i ever see wearing these alternate jerseys are kids in brooklyn who also happen to be wearing matching hats and/or bandanas.

    bloods are scary as fuck. i see them all the time in brooklyn, but i've never been bothered. if you don't make eye contact, you should be fine. also, there are certain parts of brooklyn were you might want to consider avoiding the 2, 3, 5, E, and G trains after sunset.

    red=bloods
    blue=crips

    Doesn't anybody listen to SNOOP? :)

    It is scary though, I've seen this story all over. I don't 'believe' they had NO Idea what they were doing when they made them, the color combos and symbols are too much of a coincidence to me.

    Their No. 1 draft pick of last year. One of their many young arms in the minors that's doing well.

    oh! But is he ready for the majors after 1 year in the minors? In the middle of a pennant race?

    Were Joba Chamberlain and Phil Hughes? Actually Phil was in the minors a little longer. But he's still 21 like Joba. Joba just got out of college last year.

    Phil started earlier in the year

    I don't follow the minors, does this kid have stuff like Joba?

  • save yourself some money on the diet sodas, there are a number of places on E. 161 Street and the other blocks that you can get them for normal prices and if you arrive early enough to eat outside the stadium, try the court deli located by the courthouse on 161 Street.

    Yea but he was out for two months with injury. And he wasn't supposed to come up that early. I don't follow the minors that much either. But I've heard that he was ranked higher than Joba. He dominated Class A, Double A and now AAA. There's talk that he might join the starting rotation next year. He's not on their 40 man roster though. But they might give him a shot. Can't be worse that what Mussina is doing now. Unless they bring back Igawa.

    this is true but if you get thirsty during the game, what else can you do?!

    There's that nice diner too, I can't remember the name of it but it has tasty food. It's the one that's always crowded.. I think it's on River Ave?

    I'd still put my $ on Moose, he's road tested and playoff tested, maybe just going through a rough patch. I hope he's not hurt.

    kennedy is similar to a mike mussina when he was younger and with the orioles. that means his fastball is in the mid-90s and he throws some changeups.

    (disclaimer - i've never seen him pitch, i just heard that or read that somewhere about the guy).

    if it's the diner on the south side of E 161, formerly called the UNITY Diner, that's been replaced by the way overpriced Billy's. There is a diner on the other side of 161 called the Crown.
