Report: Yankees talking to A-Rod again?
Alex Rodriguez

The New York Daily News reported Wednesday that the Yankees have been negotiating to keep third baseman Alex Rodriguez in the Bronx.
The Daily News added they would only negotiate with the two-time MVP if agent Scott Boras was not involved.
"We will not negotiate with Scott Boras," a team source told the newspaper. "He cannot be in the room."
During the fourth game of the World Series last month, Boras announced that his client was opting out of the final three years and $91 million of his contract. The Yankees reinterated their position that they would not negotiate with Rodriguez as a free agent.

Rodriguez reportedly wants at least $30 million per season, and Boras told the Yankees that it would take a minimum offer of 10 years and $350 million just to talk to him.
After batting .314 with 54 home runs and 156 RBI, Rodriguez is certain to win a third MVP award and second with the Yankees this month.
i would love to have a-rod on my team (your 2007 world series champions, the boston red sox) just not for an average of $27.5mil a season until he's 42.
sadly, at least that's not as bad as $13.1mil/year for posada until he's 40 or the possible $15mil/year for rivera until he's 41.
"We will not negotiate with Scott Boras," a team source told the newspaper. "He cannot be in the room."
will a-rod wear a wire and an earpiece to the negotiation table? will boras be in a fake flower delivery van outside yankee stadium with his associates?
that would be funny. maybe he'll have the bluetooth device attached to him or maybe hank steinbrenner will do a through security search to make sure he's not wearing a wire.

if boras is not to be involved, why a 10 year deal? if a-rod wants to be a yankee so bad, why not a 5 year deal with some option years? oh wait, it's all about the (guaranteed) money.
nice waste of money, yanks. he'll just get ridiculous numbers, make lots of commercials, have his name mentioned by the sports media every 5 seconds, and then do nothing in the post season.
two words for all you baseball fans to think about in getting ready for next season... magglio ordonez.
drowning, drinking the light
god's eyes are closed, just like yours
ARod is such a dick. He stands for everything that is wrong in professional sports. I think it's funny he was asking for $350 million. He'll end up coming back to the Yankees with his tail between his legs.
mike and the dog just read a formal announcement from NYY
basically ARod contacted NYY thru a 3rd party .
Talks are ongoing.
NYY were asked if Boras was involved, they said " No Comment " .
no $ or time window have been solidified, alltho it does look like hes coming back.
i cant help thinking this was all a master plan from the beginning- publicity stunt.

I don't think Boras or A-Rod have a monopoly on wanting long term commitments. The only reason why most other players don't get 10 year deals is because they aren't good enough to warrant it.

obviously i understand they don't, but a 10 year deal is such a stupid thing for a team to commit to. obviously for a baseball (or basketball) player it is great because it is all guaranteed money.
if i was a yankee fan i would want them to go all out to try to get johan santana over resigning a-rod.

I agree, this deal won't be good for the team at the backend of the contract. I would say the same for a lot of free agent contracts though. In 3-4 years, Posada definitely won't be worth 13 mill, and Rivera won't be worth 15 mill in 2 years(if he agrees to that deal).
I think they can afford both ARod and Johan, given the contracts that will be expiring within a year or two(Giambi, Mussina, Damon, Pavano, ect.)
