Frank Thomas- 1st half of career = one the greats of all time. 2nd half of career has moments that go unnoticed by the masses.

I second this nomination. Top vote getters will go into a poll after the discussion dies down. Keep em' coming.

can't be Frank Thomas. Pearl Jam would never get cut from any team.

I think it has to be Ken Griffey Jr. Best in the '90s, despite all that crap going on around him (steroids - music business, 'selling out', ticketmaster)

It has to be Mad Dog Greg Maddux, without a doubt...no pitcher won more games in the '90s, no better band rocked the 90s.

I was at a work conference in Tampa last year. The entire Yankees team stayed at my hotel. I saw Reggie every time I turned around, 99% of those times he was hitting on different women. I'm a lifelong Yankees fan, and Reggie was my favorite player when I was a kid, it was really strange to see him this way...

The world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever. Because this is just a ride." And we...kill those people. "Shut him up! I've got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up! Look at my furrows of worry, look at my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real." It's just a ride. But we always kill the good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok? But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace.

Chase Utley. Dynamic on field (stage) presence . Picture of high level consistency in the work product he puts out. Gentleman away from the spotlight. I've talked with Chase Utley three times and every mermber of PJ at least once. To be exact, Mike 6 times , Jeff twice, and Boom, Ed, Matt, and Stone once each.

Im a Met fan but I love the way Eric Byrnes on the D-Backs plays. He has that long hair rock and roll look and he plays just for the fun of it reminds me of Jeff back in the day.

Steady throughout their career and often forgotten or under-appreciated.

no one has said good ol' Cal Ripken Jr. yet.

Cal Jr. wasn't flashy, he liked to get dirty and he got the job done. Reliable and consistent. Day in, day out and the longevity and durability of this class act were unquestionable. Kinda like our boys!

Both are/were ambassadors for their respective craft!

After a while, they both have become the face for their respective eras. Consdiring he was my favorite ball player, this is a perfect comparison for me.
