its amazing how far this thread has gone, without mentioning the textbooks...

As per the religion aspect. It isn't ISLAM that is the problem. To me, Islam is more or the less the same as any of the other western religions. It's the Islamic establishment, most notably, right-wing Islamic governments who exploit what should be a peaceful religion to practice, into something that is being used for evil/negativity.

There is huge history of this with the Christian establishment, and it still goes on today, I just don't think at the same extent as it does with the Islamic establishment. (btw, I don't mean the entire Islamic establishment of course, I just mean certain governments in the mid-east. The three most Muslim populated countries aren't even in the middle east).

'Church and state' have to be separated and that is not the case in many countries. That being said, religion is a major part of people's lives, therefore it should be an important part of society and even politics at times. But it should never be the cause or reason behind government policy.

O.k. Far be it for me to attempt to understand your type of logic.

It'd be like trying to debate with a member of the flat Earth society.

    I'll bow out gracefully.

You mean everybody living in the Middle East teaches terror?

And everybody in America is a Christian fundamentalist nutjob, right?

So your view is that the Middle East should be bombed?

I think I grasp your logic.

My views may not be popular with the PJ crowd, but they are mine-

Oddly enough, it was your Republican friends who permitted your backyard destroyed and inncent people to die, because they went to work on that beautiful summer day.

Spend some time in a thread next time. So you think we should spend time reading your post, but our posts aren't worth your time? That sounds pretty arrogant.

Just out of interest, when you say 'bomb the fuckers', who exactly are you referring to?

This thread was about Saudi Arabia. Are you saying that the U.S should bomb Saudi Arabia, or do you want the U.S to bomb every Arab country in the world? Or just every brown skinned person?
Or just everyone who isn't American?

im not apologising for terrorists whether they be individuals or state sanctioned or even of the state, however it is US foreign policy that has to take the blame for 9/11, not any particular president.

i mean you did quote her didn't you? maybe the rest of the world are ignorant fuckers and think all americans think like 3inputchick. now of course i don't think that. but maybe you do?

Because I take offence at people stating that we should bomb the Middle East, or wherever it is she has in mind - actually I don't think even she knows what she's talking about.
Anyway, I also take offence at her implying that all Arabs are Animals.

That's why I quoted her. Some things need to be confronted. Racial hatred, and blatent ignorance are two of those things.

yes. i get all that, and i agree with everyting you are saying there. what i didn't get, was why you felt you needed to reply to her with the comment ' i wonder why America is the most hated country in the world?'

we don't all think like her.

I know you don't all think like her, but many people in the world only hear that kind of attitude. And that kind of attitude is unfortunately all too common. Your government's foreign policy doesn't help matters either.

And for the record, I don't hate America, but I know, and have met, a lot of people who do.
Maybe 'the people' of America have failed to get their voices heard?

I lived most of my life in Australia but i now reside/work in the US. I strongly disagree that the attitude of 3inputchick is common. Not from what i have heard or seen in my time here anyway.

The American people here are just like you and I. I've met many more good people than i have bad people. They get up every day, go to work, look after their kids and families the best they can, worry about their mortgages, worry about what's in future for them, worry about what sort of future there will be for their kids when they grow up. Much like what people worried about in Australia. I work as a paramedic. They even die and bleed like Aussies do too. Yep. They're just like you and i.

It's so hard not to become defensive of the American people in general. I'm here and interact with them. I see first hand what the majority are like. Great people. I'm also not blind, i know we have faults and there are things we could do so much better.

I know that we are heavily criticized for our governments stance on foreign policy, but i just wish people weren't so ignorant and unfair that they label an entire country and their people based on that.

Maybe we will get our vioices heard when/if obama becomes president, and hopefully we will be seen in a better light by the rest of the world. Maybe i'm naive and i know i am going to be bitterly dissappointed if he does not deliver what he promises. I honestly do see hope in him.

I hope i'm right. For everyones sake.

I am truly sorry for your loss on 9/11.

With regard to the first part of your post - Is it a new conspiracy theory that "animals" flew those planes that I am not aware of?!

As far as I know, the hijackers were human beings, like you and I, with their own motives, intentions and even fears. [Sure, they could have been CIA-agents, or brain-washed Saudis, or the planes could have even been remotely controlled, whatever - but no animal is actually able to fly a plane.]

There have been several historical precedents where opponents were considered less than human, sub-human, and it wasn't that pretty - nor ultimately successful.

It would be good to understand why the biggest attack in American soil was successfully carried out rather than viewing those on your opposing side as "animals".

I went to America 3 times before 9/11, and once after. The first two times I went with my Mum and travelled all over, the second time involving taking a bus ride from L.A to New York. I really liked the place. I then went back by myself and travelled by Greyhound from New York to San Francisco and back again, after spending a couple of months in San Francisco.
After Bush was elected I began to care less and less about the place until I actually began turning my nose up at most things American. Most of the people I knew were the same.
I was then invited to stay at a friends house in Florida for two weeks in 2005 and was at firdst reluctant to go. Anyway, once I'd gotten back there I soon realised how nothing had really changed and the people were still the same. I really enjoyed the two weeks I spent there, met some cool people, and realised that I'd let my perception of the place be clouded by the Iraq war, Bush and his idiot cronies e.t.c.
Though ost people in the world only see the side of America that flaunts itself on the t.v everyday. I.e, the Iraq occupation, Afghanistan, It's 100% support of Israel, American Idol, e.t.c.
Hmm, so your popularity rating is pretty much fucked, at least for the time being. ;)

I live in NYC- ask 99.9% of the people here. They would say wipe the entire middle east out.
I know it's not realistic, and I know that there are many innocent people over there who are outraged by what their people did.... but there is no way in hell I want to relive 9/11 and if that means bombing them all- so be it. Ask a NY'er to tell you about 9/11.... the horror is as real as it was as the afternoon of that horrible day....

I'm not a monster- I work with run away and homeless children... sit on the board of 3 local charities including Tuesday's Children- a not for profit serving children who lost a parents on 9/11. I see every day first hand what those monsters did to this city..... with that I believe it with 100% of my heart that we should have went over on 9/12/2001 and bombed the hell hell out of those animals.
