With the technology we have available to us now it just seems like a no brainer.

Because the oil companies are making money right now and would like to continue. Lying to and covering shit up to make money is not that crazy of a concept to believe. If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

look at how far in our system oil execs are...our president, vp, sec of state (former national security advisor), i think reagan made an oil exec head of the dept that handles patents...
where is a free market actually existed other than theories? every single country that had this 'free-market capitalism' forced on them just plunged deeper into debt
they certainly CAN prevent this from happening.
look at that case in, was it illinois? where the guy made his own gas and the govt came in and said he had to stop unless he obtained a permit he didn't even qualify for?standin above the crowd

Oh my god, yes. Innovation isn't innovation at all, it's throwing research dollars to CEO's in the automotive and oil industries for decades on end..for what? SUV's?
gimme a fucking break.
that didn't happen by accident.
They're going to blame the market and tell you, well, that's what the consumer wanted.
what a bunch of fucking shit.

It's the internal combustion engine that's keeping all this back, right? Don't many of these alternative fuel or hybrid or electric vehicles lack the power that the ICE provides? I'm not a car guy so I don't really pay attention to it. I think they use electricity in large trains but those motors are still fired by diesel. Where's John Galt when you need him?"Almost all those politicians took money from Enron, and there they are holding hearings. That's like O.J. Simpson getting in the Rae Carruth jury pool." -- Charles Barkley0 -

Engine Efficiency
The efficiency of various types of internal combustion engines vary. Most gasoline fueled internal combustion engines, even when aided with turbochargers and stock efficiency aids, have a mechanical efficiency of about 20% [2][3]. The efficiency may be as high as 37% at the optimum operating point in engines where this is a high priority such as that of the Prius. Most internal combustion engines waste about 36% of the energy in gasoline as heat lost to the cooling system and another 38% through the exhaust. The rest, about 6%, is lost to friction.standin above the crowd
