That's because they think we have the freedom to choose independent of such determinants. If any one of us grew up the offspring of Osama Bin Laden, guess what we'd be doing?

That's the end of your story, the book is closed for you.

For me the book is still open and still being written, even the first chapter is still a mystery.
    Very nice, Ahnimus.

everything is predetermined on our experiences...you don't even have control over what you'll wear tomorrow.....already programed....we do learn from our experiences..but at the point of having to make a decision...its already been made....like you freakin quoting me 10 seconds after I posted....damn you damn you.

    Hahaha

Predetermination isn't a bad thing though. The experience is just as interesting, if not more so.

You're welcome. :) I liked how you reiterated his point about the end of story, or book closed. People don't realise what they are really doing when they close their minds like that, unfortunately. And of course, the idea of the first chapter being a mystery itself, much less the rest of the book, well....nice.

Let me explain and don't get pissed...thats not what this board is about...its about getting new viewpoints.

I like you live in Texas....typical vehicle in my neck of the woods...2007 F350 Dually 4X4 Deisel. Got three yellow support troops stickers in varing colors and one W sticker...so many of us...feel (convinced even) that the reason we're in Iraq is for oil...plain and simple...hell ole Georgy even pointed this out in his last "address to the nation" written by Karl speach. So when we see dill hole with his fuel guzzling monster (yea its a deisel but he still only gets 12 MPG) with a support our troops sticker we think he's a freakin hypocrite and simply has the troops supporting his fuel addiction.

and again Damn you Ahnimous...you caused this.

    Ok.

It just kills me. Any thread that has any thing about the troops you can always count on 3 or 4 posts saying something about people with the yellow ribbons, and how they don't really support the troops. It is so cliche.

Most of the cars I've seen with ribbons also have the DOD sticker on the front windsheild, meaning they are military or have family in the military. They support the troops because the love them. They just want them to come home safe.

I guess all I am saying is don't automatically assume the worst about people with those stickers and you know you want one of those trucks. They are pretty sweet.
    Peace through superior firepower!

I think it's funny this "open minded" craze hit the dating scene.

"I'm looking for someone with an open mind" as one example.

What they are really looking for is someone that will try the things they want to try. Like skydiving or bungee jumping. Anyone I've talked to that is "looking for an open mind" is really close minded when it comes to their perceptions of events and other people.

I thought "open-minded" in terms of dating had slightly more "alternative" connotations. ;)

Perhaps he is thinking something along the lines of the war being a complete success, the people of Iraq being so pleased that they have a military presence, the casualties being so minimal, non-existent ensuing civil-war being propaganda, the occupation not only being exemplary, but one of absolute legitimacy and the fact there are no soldiers whatsoever being flown home in boxes at night away from the cameras?

    I'm intrigued, jlew.
