And i agree with what you said above, but i beleive that the majority of troops over there are just as much victims of this bullshit war as everyone who is suffering because of it.
I disagree to a point....it was something of a rhetorical question...how can anyone in this day and age not be aware of certain things.......its mind boggling.
As for "everyone else who is suffering" - my point was that if they are suffering, its by their own hand !! Its astonishing to me that Americans would stand by and say, "ya, Bush really fucked up, but hey, I'm gonna support the troops regardless". Its not about bush, or Cheney, or Libby anymore. Its about the avg. American who can't see the irony of his/her choices. They want to divorce themselves from their choices.0 -

I'm not comparing anything, I'm just saying the statistical method used in the study that produced the 650,000 number is the same method that has been used for a long time in the public health field.
The examples where to show you that the cdc for example didn't go and check the smoking habits of all the people dying from cancer. And there aren't UN agents behind every HIV infected person on the planet.
edit :jlew24asu wrote:fact remains that 650,000 or 1,000,000 like some scum will say, Iraqis have not been killed from American Troops.
And that number is an estimate, the lowest border of the range is 393,000.0 -

Byrnzie wrote:I should have known by your board name. I'm having a dumb day today. So are you still signed up or have you quit the forces?
It's called in active reserves. So technically if they wanted to call me back in they could. The odds are extremely slim though. I got out a month after I got back from Iraq and have been in school ever since.
Montgomery GI bill and Army College Fund combined gets me 2077.00 bucks a month. And Washington state has passed a reduced tuition adjustment for combat veterans. So in-state tuition plus a 50% reduction comes to 1050.00 bucks a quarter(three months). They only pay you for three years, but it's more than enough to save and cover your last year.
Since I don't have to work, I spend my time at a local community radio station, I started a non-profit to feed homeless in Seattle and have recently signed up to be a "Big Brother".
I worked with an immensely diverse multinational force in Kosovo, but never got to work with the Brits (or Irish). Although one time, a Royal Marine snuck up and scared the living shit out of us in the middle of the night, way deep in the woods. We were both lost. Sort of.
Heres some pictures of my company on one of the various humanitarian missions I partook in, I never got to do the fun stuff, because being the low man on the totem pole, my ass sat on top of a hmmwv all day pulling security. The top guy was my roommate in Germany, his name was Plascencia he was Mexican. We called him placenta.

what, so if he is not american what he has to say has no merit? get over yourself.
i find that people from other countries have quite valid points of view in their supports and or criticisms of my country and its military and foreign policy. are other countries not affected by our policies abroad? if the US was smart they would take into consideration the opinions of the rest of the world, but with these nimrods in this administrations in charge it would never happen.
it is people like you who perpetuate the stereotype of americans being ignorant, arrogant, and dismissive of or indifferent to what the rest of the world thinks. there is a big difference between 650,000 and a million, but i am disturbed that you seem so proud of the 650,000 figure and so dismissive of the million figure. who really knows for sure other than the dead? if you want to be a cheerleader go ahead, but you can't dismiss the possibility of another 450,000 deaths simply because you don't want to believe that your military is capable of such things. i would tend to believe the people who are there and say they have lost a loved one over what the military brass concedes to the media who in turn does not report the important things."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to get some letters after your name. I wish i could go back to college/university here without it setting me back 5 grand or more.0 -

Why do americans go on about "freedoms" all the time...
[cough] Cos some of them are brainwashed [/cough]Keep on rockin in the free world!!!!
The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.0 -
