As much as I loathe war. Good to see them doing something like this to take the boys and girls minds off of the situation they are in, if only for a couple of hours.
You've changed your place in this world!

It's a good gesture. Nice to see it! I believe that the Stanley Cup travels, as it was welcomed in my hometown by an NHL player who is originally from my hometown. It caused quite the stir, as I'm from a big hockey town.

I didn't know you were from the area, not to mention, I didn't know that they only traveled to one town with the Cup!

yeah, i live about 20 minutes south of where cole brought the cup. i would have gone to see it, but i didn't want to ask for a day off to see the stanley cup. i don't think my supervisor would have thought that was a good enough excuse. besides, i've seen the cup once already at the hockey hall of fame.

I believe there are 3 Stanley Cups. One original, and two promotional replica cups which are made with the same quality materials.

The replicas are used for charity events and television commercials etc. Plus I think for the majority of the year a replica is on display at the HHoF in Toronto. They do short stories on it every year on TV here in Canada. I'm sure if you scour the intarweb you could find info.

Not to worry... remember... it DID survive the whole time it was in Detriot.

There is actually the original top bowl that is at the HHoF, and 2 "replicas" that are trophy that we are used to seeing... One is the trophy that is actually won, passed around, makes the promotional trips, etc.. The other is it's fill in at the HHoF when the first one is out doing all that it does. I don't think the second one ever goes anywhere, except as the substitute display at the hall.

Very cool thing to do for the soldiers!

As long as they bring it back to New York City, in time for the Rangers to parade it around Madison Square Garden; all is good:D:D:D
