Do animals go to heaven?

Providing you believe in heaven, what is your take on whether or not our pets and animals go to heaven?

If they do, would that mean animals have a soul? Could heaven be heaven without animals? How about insects? What is the cutoff for entry into heaven?

I've asked a few religious people this before. Just wondering what you all think?
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Ask anyone who has lost a beloved pet and they will tell you that they went to heaven.

I don't even believe in people heaven, but when my old dog died I was convinced that he would go to doggie heaven and run freely in the open meadow chasing rabbits :)

No idea. Doesn't really rank very high on my list of things to ponder. Hopefully I'll get to know when I die, until then it's not a pressing concern.

if they do then wasps will be in Hell.. wasps are evil fuckers of an animal!!

and pigeons... i want them all to die
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I think heaven will be a lot like earth, so ya other animals will be around...I also think heaven will be some sort of manifestation of what you want it to be, what makes you happy, so I would imagine you favorite animals will be around.
Oh and as far as I know...I am an animal...so Yes.

I'm not sure I believe in "heaven".

I HOPE there is one... but questions like this spark the logic in me to kick in.

Here's a fictional dialog which hopefully will spark some thoughts:

Assuming one believes in evolution - We are extremely intelligent monkeys. Tremendously intelligent, but still animals, none the less.

So if WE go to "heaven" then surely monkeys go to "heaven".

But what about those small little monkeys? ...well, sure. they're just smaller, right?

What about birds? ...maybe? ...no? Well, they're not that smart, so no.

Then what about parrots? I have a parrot - and many parrots have the intellect of 2 year old children. You can ask some parrots "which color block is bigger" and they'll answer "green" or "red" or which ever is bigger, understanding and communicating with the same intellect as a child.

    ...well ok, but not pigeons.

    Why not?

Because they're not smart enough...? ok... well...

What about infants who die after 3 weeks? They're certainly not at intelligent at a pigeon at that age.

I think one can make the case for any animal to be included or excluded from "heaven".

I'd say it's either all or nothing. And frankly, I'm not sure there is a heaven we're going to. Scary thought, but none the less, it's all kinda imaginary.

I just buried a collar dove in the back garden, a few minutes ago!

Can you spot the difference between a wood pigeon and a collar dove?

The wood pigeon sounds like he's saying, "You greeeeat beeeeeeeg ... fuckwit! You greeeeeeeeat beeeeeeeeg .... fuckwit!"

The collar dove sounds like he's saying, "You baaaaaaastard! You baaaaaaastard!"

humans are animals. but we are different. in the entire animal kingdom all animals are basically the same. food; reproduction; and protection are their basic instincts. same for us; but we go a step further.
if you can imagine your mind being allowed to roam freely; that is heaven. what use would you have for a dog there?

Which part of the mind goes to heaven?

The part that says "Chocolate cake!" "Sex!" and so on, or the part that says "You will get fat!" or is it the part that says "Pick your nose" and "Scratch your head"? or maybe it's that part that says "Something is poking you in the foot!"

That's what I'd like to know. Anyone can tell that consciousness and experience are segmented in the qualia. Anyone who's ever had a bout of cognitive dissonance, or had the urge to do something while simultaneously had the urge to do something completely different.

There's a world outside your windows. Step off the porch and start to experience it. I think it's time for a new paradigm.

I wonder when they made the choice to be wasps.

Doesn't the whole heaven/hell thing depend on Free-will?

This totally played up my head and I liked it....lol

The past 3 days at 6am I've had this horny pigeon outside my window going nuts. I'm seriously considering sending it to the other side.

  • So do animals have a soul then? Can you be saved and ascend if you don't have a soul?

No, you take time apart to ponder the very limited part of life that science can explain and then act as if the larger part of life doesn't matter or exist because science cannot find a way to measure it.

    Here's the REAL question:

    The year is 2177.

You're flying around on your hover bike.

    You're in a horrible accident.

Your legs, torso and arms are ripped off.

Luckily - the gorilla at the zoo passed away 20 minutes before.

The doctors, out of cadavers, attach your head to the body of a gorilla.

If animals don't go to heaven, do you go to heaven, since you are now mostly gorilla?

    Also -

If you're born with a severe mental handicap and die at the age of 3, do you go to heaven? If yes, are you still handicapped? And are you still 3? And do you still age? If you do age, can you die?

What is the "larger part of life" that you are referring to?

I think you are just excusing your total ignorance on the topic by claiming that there are things "beyond" the realm of science or the subjects that I ponder. The reality is, I ponder everything from souls and cosmic consciousness down to the significance of a pebble. But I do it in a critically analytical way. You apparently just make shit up, and whatever is comforting to you.
