gonna watch just to see what old gramps can come up with this time.
  • McCain is looking like an ass tonight. How many times has he interrupted Obama tonight? Geez......I thought he did well keeping his temper in check in the first two debates but he is getting a lil flustered tonight. He comes off like a pompous ass tonight.

  • Overall, I like this debate much better than the last two. Schieffer is doing a much better job of getting each candidate to the point, using follow-ups, and asking real questions.

Also, I got Obama leading by a little on my scorecard.

Obama is doing a much better job of actually answering the questions, IMHO.

He pretty much passed on his chance to trash Palin. Probably a good move, but I was chomping at the bit! :p

I think McCain just admitted that. "I really admire his eloquence..."

I feel like I can never tell who's winning and who's losing. Has there been a gamechanger? Is it over? All these arbitrary definitions, and I just can't tell. I decided to give up on it and find out in the morning.

It's more of a personal thing. I really don't think you can quantify "winning" in any objective sense. It's not like a test of who came up with the most correct answers or who remembered the most facts. Rather, for me, winning is about which candidate most clearly expressed ideas that mirror mine.

On the other hand, I suppose you could call the "winning" candidate the one who compels the most voters to vote for them. That's a little harder to see from just watching it on television--you need polls and shit that no one ever seems to agree are accurate.

So, that is to say, it's entirely subjective.

Nice touch, jackass. Keep smirking and condescending, you are losing and I think Obama will increase his lead tonight. I honestly LIKE McCain, but tonight he is just really losing me.

Any undecideds on the boards watching tonight? Leaning one way or another based on tonights debate?

You can't "find out in the morning." FOX with tell you one thing; MSNBC the other :D.

I can tell you, though................. it's Obama! :p

The response was pretty good.... "I think I do understand it, John."

Breaking news: McCain just threw in another "Joe the Plumber" and "my friends" (in the same fucking sentence).

I can kind of relate to McCain tonight. I'm very competitive and when I'm losing I can be an ass. I just can't take it. You wouldn't want to see me on a basketball court if I'm down to the point where I know I can't comeback. I think that's where McCain is tonight. He thinks if he acts like he's dominating maybe others will somehow agree and declare him the winner. Problem is that he's down by 20 with 3 minutes to go. Meanwhile Obama just keeps hitting jumpers in his face. McCain is trying to start a brawl that will get the both of them thrown out but Obama isn't falling for it.

you have a great point here.... McCain is trying to bait Obama into a drag out fight and Obama is taking the high road...

Good point. I agree. I said the same thing to my wife, minus the basketball analogy....you know, so she would understand.

It's just talking point #1, then talking point #2, then so on and so forth, and I can't even understand if or how that would resonate with people, so I just gave up on the whole damn thing and continued drinking (alcohol has become an unfortunate constant companion on debate night). So hopefully, someone can tell me how it goes.

McCain looks so creepy when he's on the side cam and doesn't agree.

Ultra creepy! It looks like he's going to blow up!

Well said. I think McCain did better than he has, but not good enough. And, imho, all that blinking makes him look like a liar. All of his interrupting makes him look like an ass. You do want a steady hand on that tiller, even though we're not voting for best farmer here. Still, the steady hand is definitely Obama's. He's what I want in a president.

Glad to see the discussion is so intelligent and mature tonight.
I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.
