I'm not sure what you specifically refer to when talking about voting their pocket books rather than principle, but I definitely, out of principle, vote to protect my pocket book from looters and theives. It is a very principled vote. So perhaps I'm misunderstanding your intent.

you just confirmed my post on voting out of fear. Additionally on the fear thing....if you looked at the polls before the election....people rated Bush high on protecting them from another terrorist attack....all about fear. On the pocket book thing...I have many wealthy republican freinds..and they like they're tax cut along with being programmed by the republicans that if Dem win they will loose money.

You've just confirmed that you jump to conclusions about peoples' motivations.

Voting for pocket books goes much deeper than a symbolic tax cut. And Bush's spending habits have shown that Republicans no longer have the moral high ground on small gov't / limited spending. But that doesn't mean there aren't candidates from each party who do understand their responsibilities and priorities. And someone who places a higher priority on looting than on returning that loot should be regarded as a criminal.

Don't be silly that wasn't democracy at work, because the Democrats and Republicans are cut from the same cloth. You didn't know that?
Well then start a third party, and have three corrupt parties to choose from.

I understand what you're saying. But realize on this board that these sorts of quotes usually follow an instigation by a Canadian or Brit who slags the U.S.

No it can be done plus it would create thousands of jobs for Canadians and keep our fuel prices lower.....and I am not crying or whining....just responding to shallow posts....funny how "news-men" in the States on widely watched televesion channels dedicated to broadcasting the news can say this crap....frankly its pretty pathetic

Fair enough but I am not making gernealizations I have spoke time and time again (while still being critical of the Bush admin. and other American policies) about many of my great friends that are American...plus I always say I envy Americans because of their pride for their country....something no citizen of any nation do better (however it can lead you down the wrong direction but that is not the point)....just responding to shallow comments that is all.....Americans are not bad people.....just like anyone else....there are great ones, bad ones, nice ones, assholes....just like Canada, Japan, or Iraq for that matter......

It makes me so upset you have no idea....I 100% agree we should be FIRST using our reserves for Canadians and we should build more refineries in Canada that will hire Canadians and pay a good wage....sick of seeing a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico increasing my gas prices while hardly making a dent on those in the south....man this topic infuriates me.....also exporting our crude to the south and then later importing the gasoline at higher costs...such a pathetic way of running things.....dammit lets make our gas here in Canada so we can kepp costs reasonable.....pisses me off.....

Just wait until we dish off our fresh water......and for what....nothing....

There are plan underway to build a new refinery near Sarnia, Ont, but it could take almost six years before its operational.

Yeah but we are going to need a few more to keep our oil/gas in Canada.....our prices are way too high for what we produce from our country and what we would consume....

I hope they keep thinking we're cowboy assholes. You know why? They're fucking pricks who make fun of us when we go to their countries even though our government has done the bad things, not us.

They're the assholes. Make fun of Bush - fine. I'm not going to hate on all French people even though Jacques Chirac is a douche.

What you call arrogance, I call pride in my country. I'm sorry you can't be proud of your country.

The reason people hate people like yourself is due to your making comments like the following:
Who gives a shit what these people think of us?

When they give you shit, just ask them what the fuck they ever did for the world. So our government currently sucks right now - big deal. America's saved more ass than Carter's got pills.

Even with a shitty government, our country is 10x better than any other country out there.

I don't lie awake worrying about what Australians think of us. Honestly, it matters very little to me.

In the end, it comes down to one thing: military power. They're threatened by our military, and for good reason: we could kick anyone's asses if we wanted to. But we don't and God Bless us for not.

It's not neccesarily down to your having a bunch of cunts as your Government. Pretty simple really.

Britain has a lot of shitty things about it too.

But, I won't need to worry about all that in 50 years when Muslims outnumber you. Honestly, London is like a third world country now.

What this comes down to is that we all need to treat people as individuals and not bracket everyone into the same bag. Many times on this board when I've made any critiscism of the Bush administration I've been labelled anti-American, which is a bit pathetic really. People on this thread who have slagged Americans need to remember waht message board they're on. What would you do if you met Ed Vedder? Slag him? People need to look at the big picture.

Your post has nothing to do with anything I said above.
