You were quick to jump on people who disagreed with the OP, but I notice you took no issue with the OP's name calling. Why is that?

Like I stated earlier, I don't think it's right to stoop to someone's level just because you disagree with them. It just creates static. Itstead of fighting back with name calling and anger..someone could simply discard it, not giving it the time of day..or they could respond respectfully perhaps making that person recognize the foolishness in their post. In both cases, the static is gone.

That is what satire is. It is humor intended to make someone think. In this case, to make the original poster think about how foolish his post was. He was an ass about his generalizations, so he did not deserve much.

Okay, I'll throw you a bone here and try to answer thoughtfully to the OP.

With the issue of the economy, you think the "Savages who don't know their asses from their elbows" are idiots for not voting Democrat. Well, instead of namecalling and assumptions that any change is good change, you should think about the issue. In the history of the world, we have seen how socialism has ruined economies. We have also seen how tax cuts have spurred on economic growth (1980's and post 2002 - 2005). So, I guess we are savages to think that maybe the current plan is not working well and could use some change (but we still grew 3% last quarter), but don't want to vote for the change the Democrats are proposing because we don't believe that will work either and make things worse than they are now.

    Beautiful!
  • I think you're getting us mixed up with the Scottish.

Edit: And when was being drunk a bad thing? Considering this world recession, to be able to afford to get drunk is a victory, and it's the Irish with the money to do that.

A chara but the Irish have gotten rich off this abusive capitalist system, bringing in cheap foreign immigrants and giving them low wages!!! lollers

The poor working class must fend for themselves while the capitalist abuses them :(:(:(

As for the Irish getting drunk all the time, that is certainly no longer the case. They have cracked down big time on public drunkenness and drunk driving. My friend visited Ireland for a semester and said they even have BAC checkpoints Sunday morning to make sure people aren't driving drunk after a night of drinking.

Not really sure what you mean there, why don't I get on what?? Allowing more Nigerians into the country? Although I do work, it is not in immigration so I can't impact this one way or the other.

Just make sure you vote for the numbnuts that want more Nigerians in Ireland heh. Your country is not enough of a rainbow nation - too many white people.

You don't need to work in immigration, just make sure you're letting Africans live in your home. You pointed out how terribly America treats its African-American population - great! Hows about Ireland starts inviting some of some over to your little island.

A chara I know you don't represent all de Irish so I won't make any generalizayyyzations about ye.

Not all Irish people are drunkards. That's a stereotype, just like that all Americans are dumb and racist. Yes, there are drunk people in Ireland and racist people in America, but we shouldn't paint everyone with the same brush.

I don't think it's a white/black issue...I do think it shows that we've created a segment of the population that waits for others to help them and fix their problems.
Beautiful. Right on the fucking money.

    To the original post.

I have traveled extensively outside of the U.S. and lived abroad and in Canada. Sometimes the view is clearer from outside. And a lot of Americans don't realize how they are seen throughout the world. And as you can tell from the responses, a lot of them don't care.

When you would rather mock than get to the issues at hand simply because you lack the capacity, you indeed are moronic.

I am not a citizen of Ireland, but from everything I read and see on TV, your country is filled with nothing but abusive, drunk, potato eating red heads whose only gift to this world is the game of golf, which Americans seem to be a lot better at now (until this year when a European finally won a PGA Championship).

I would think in the year 2008 you Irish folks would give up the alcoholism and do some good in this world instead of bitching about how a country across the ocean deals with problems that Ireland is too small and inconsequential to even have to deal with.

    Rant over.

P.S. Thanks for Conan. And you make awesome New York cops on Law and Order.

It wasn't just a European that won, it was an Irish man. Padraig Harrington' and he won the British open last year as well. We continually get blown out by the Europeans in the Ryder cup. If it wasn't for Tiger we wouldn't stand a chance.

Nice try with your mocking though.

What issues? This poster's view of Americans as savages because they don't think like him? Come on. This thread was a joke from the start, and that is why several people treated it like one. This is a thread on a Pearl Jam message board. We aren't changing the world.

To me the issue is that people around the world are wondering what the fuck is going on here, not just him. People really are in shock, they can't fathom how we could possibly be in a dead heat in this election. Especially when we've been so fucked over by this current administration. The only thing that could possibly explain it is that Americans are voting based on fear. And I'm sorry to tell you that makes us look idiotic. This election shouldn't even be close, but because of racism and fear it is. Just look at an electoral map and you will find answers.

If that is the only think they [you] can think of to explain it, then that certainly does make someone look idiotic, but probably not who you think.

Right, let's set some things straight here, if not for my own sanity at this point. Been a member now for a few years, and on the whole I don't post a whole hell of a lot, read bucket loads of posts though. Recently I have found myself at ends with the posts I have been reading:

I am not a citizen of the USA, granted, but that can sometimes help bring some objectivity to the table. I can't believe when I read on here and see on the news that it is predicted to be a very close race come November, holy shit, guys is there any hope. Now I know that a lot of you, that post on these boards, seem like intelligent people, and I am sorry to say this, but the rest of that country must be inhabited by iliterate savages who don't know thier asses from their elbows.

This party has lied to you and the world about the dreaded WMD's so as to invade a soverign nation that never posed a threat. Allowed your black population in New Orleans literaly float past without lifting a finger. Has driven your country into the depths of an impending recession. Violated the human rights of countless people with these torture flights. Eroded completley what it is that defines the USA,namely freedom. Anyone entering your country is essentially treated to a barrage of backround searchs and have personnal information disclosed and retained. The word terrorist has come to mean muslim, the bile I read and hear on these are amazing and amount to nothing short of pure blind racism. Racism ingrained into a population that really should know better ie. I was watching a report that interviewed a number of people on a street corner and many said that they would not vote Obama due to - him being black, his name, many believe he is Muslim. The illegal detention centres that are set up at will, the millions who have been slaughtered etc.......I could go on and on and on

And it's going to be a close race, McCain even shows ahead in some polls
I have read that watching too much television may impact short term memory and perhaps that explains it on the whole, I just really dont know, I am at an absolute loss.

The straw that broke the camels back was when I was reading a post and somebody mentioned that there was no harm in teaching Creationist and Evolutionist ideas in schools, and that was it, I saw red. Because of this red mist post I am sure to have insulted many of you whom I would not have wanted to, and if I have, I honest to God apoligise.

    Rant over
I'm not offended by this at all...

A chara that was all you needed to say. Yer a commie ain't ya? Yer seeing Red?

Your perception of the American political system seems a bit tinged by your Red socialist leanings.

White people get hit by hurricanes all the time, but no one complains about that. Only when a city full of blacks gets hit do we go up in arms about the lack of help from the federal government.

Get a grip. People die in hurricanes. No need to play the blame game.

that sort of anger would do a world of change in the right arena. Talk is just frustrating. And i do not see it all so black and white. There were great things , there were fuck ups, we lost stuff, we regained others, if we learn from it all, we can better choose who is the right one for our votes.

and what would happen seriously, if no one went out to vote? how would they pick a pres? I know that is highly unlikely, but seriously then what would occur?

Same here. And I can't help but think that a lot of the democrats are too spineless to make a decision and stick with it on the basis of personal conviction. Like him or not, George W. acted on his gut feelings and did not waiver when the public lost interest due to our impatience.
