I agree, I think Boss is a better choice. And Stringers passing has been off lately too.

stringer does have his off-days with his passing but it was just the begining of the tournament. a lot of guys against wales had a poor game by their own standards. if he is fit i would always go with pete... he and ronan have an understanding which is not mached by any other pair in the game. they have been playing rugby since i think high school days.

only use ''A'' if the next Word starts with a consonant that isnt h.

good job i quoted you properly in the first instance, and its quite handy that the time of your edit there to see and is much later than my original post ;):D
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

I've mentioned this before but I found an article in the Washington Post which may help explain the enormity of this Sunday coming.

    Ireland moves on:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/02/05/AR2007020501459.html

It is probably the most talked about sporting event in the history of the country, as much for the event as for the actual game, it's HUGE! I have my ticket :) and I'll be there and it's one of those really exciting moments... similar to seeing Pearl Jam for the first time. I can't wait :)

enjoy!!!! hope you are able to relive the feeling of seeing PJ the first time......remember my first time seeing PJ...chills...literally..think I shed a tear...okay I did. (-:

......want to visit your country sooo bad. Will do it soon.

Is this a friendly between the two teams?

Or is it a big plot by Ireland for some pay back? ;)
First off - one of the first things my brother told me about rugby that I quickly came to realise is true: there's actually no such thing as a friendly in rugby :p . There may be matches that aren't 'competitive' but they all count towards world rankings and the like.

Secondly, if there WERE friendlies in rugby... this would be FAR from it. It's part of a competition called the 'six nations', every year Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, France & Italy each play eachother once and whoever tops the table at the end wins the tournament. If you beat EVERY team, you win a grand slam. We haven't won a grand slam in about 60 years :o and this year will be our best ever chance in MY lifetime probably. Since last summer (when we lost by within one score TWICE to New Zealand - who have the best TWO teams in the world, their first team and their second team :D ), we've beaten the likes of South Africa and Australia, who are two more heavyweights in rugby. One of our clubs last year won the Heineken cup, which is like the European club cup.

So there are high expectations on Ireland at the moment, because apart from the six nations, the world cup (held every four years) is also on this year, in September. We are at LEAST expected to win the six nations, they're also pretty much expected to win the grand slam :o and THEN we go into the world cup with that momentum and see what happens :) although we've a really tough group.

So, yes, we're definitely expecting to beat England as they haven't been playing well since they won the last world cup and we've beaten them 3 out of 4 years I think. But the six nations is a competition where anything can happen between the top 5 teams - just last year Scotland (who SHOULD finish second last this year - sorry dunk) beat France and England

    Hope that helps a bit.

That's cos the stupid fucker's been playing with a broken hand or something :D

I agree darkcrow about their understanding but I really think the few games Boss played, he didn't weaken the team at ALL. Stringer also sometimes tries to go to fast and fucks up, which pisses me off, AND what's with those bloody quick penalties when it's in a kickable position? :o You wouldn't get the All Blacks doing that, they take every score they can get until they've finished the other team off and THEN ya go for the fun tries.

I think Boss just added so much more to the game without actually taking very much away.

It's Flannery and Murphy I feel are getting the bad deal out of this.

jerry should be starting on sunday. i think eddie was just worried about his fitness. Geordan is a great player but right now I do not think he is the "in form" guy. what we need to be worried about is Referee Steve Walsh who has said he will "come down hard" on ireland. refs really shouldnt be allowed to say that shit. they are supposed be unbias. irb should change the officials. anytway southern hemisphere refs suck.

but surely if Flannery was able to play at ALL last week, he's fit this week

Also look at the impact Murphy had when he came on for the ten minutes last week and he HAS been in form for Leicester, he'd an excellent game against Munster even scoring the try and was a contender for man of the match I'd say. It may be more to do with sticking with the Leinster backs... but why isn't he using the same format for the forwards? Cos the Munster pack is generally unstoppable so to disrupt that seems a little odd. I dunno though, I've a lot of faith in Eddie O'Sullivan - he's certainly no Steve Staunton  - and I'm sure he knows a lot more about the players and his reasons than I do so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt I think :o cos he's enough players to mess around with without actually weakening the team and leaving great impact subs on the bench.

I agree with you about the refs - I thought that was bloody ridiculous... but it was in the Star today that apparently Eddie has cleared that up with him, apparently he looked at the footage and realised he was wrong (which may not actually be true). I'd say he just realised his error in saying that... either way, they should have got another ref to fill in.

apparently eddie has dropped andrew trimble to the bench... WHY??? he is fuckin immense.
on the jerry point.... he has been out for a couple of months and i guess eddie didnt want to throw him in. use him when the game is secure enough.

Trimble may not even BE on the bench though if O'Driscoll plays I think... just Murphy. Well think of it this way though... D'Arcy, O'Driscoll, Horgan, Hickie, Murphy, Dempsey... If O'Driscoll's fit there's no WAY you could drop Hickie (the way HE'S playing at the moment, fuck he was like something out of Braveheart with the blood pumping down his face at the weekend :D ) or Horgan who would make ANY team in the world... Trimble's immense but he (and Ulster) hasn't actually been playing as well as any of the above for his club AND if you have 6 backs all capable of brilliance, you HAVE to go for experience, especially in a game like this... and it's hard to believe but Trimble hasn't actually been around that long :o

    *ignoring dunk*

I agree... absolutely fucking devastated. What a great day, fabulous atmosphere, tense game to go with the occasion. I was standing in front of a big group of French guys on the hilll and we were all best friends before the match, they were even singing Irelands call and all that... but when the match started, the occasion didn't matter anymore. BUT... this was NOT the way it was supposed to go :( :( :(

I was listening to RTE1 commentary on my earphones but whenever the fields of athenry would kick off, I'd take them out and just think 'wow', it was amazing. We really thought we had it though with that penalty... 2 and a half fucking minutes to go and we had it won    I'm still stunned... we stood there for about 15 mins after the match cos we just couldn't get our legs to work, til I realised the French team were doing a lap of fucking honour and I thought 'I'm not waiting for that' :( :( :(

the only thing i can say is at least there are possitives to look forward to the game against england. neil best was immense when he came on, darcy and horgan were working well, issac boss did a good job (dispite some nievity), and ronan is getting back on form. next game BO'D will be back and hpofully pete too. Jerry better start this time too. Rory is alright but not a first team choice.
edit: David Wallace (who i have never rated) amazed me. he was like a man possed. he was at the heart of every move. tireless on the field. he was doing what paul hsa failed to do for a second game.

i guess what we can say is for most of the game we were playing the rugby while the french were really cynical. you cant beat the all blacks playing the way the french did.

D'Arcy was fucking unbelieveable... I'm not sure how it came out on the tv but watching in the stadium, he seemed to be absolutely everywhere... maybe cos he had to with Horgan apparently not being fully fit. Boss was great I think, he really opens the game up. Hickie also had a couple of nice chances. I couldn't believe Trimble that time when he had a try waiting for him and he fell to the ground  the frustration was unreal. O'Gara's opened the first two games worryingly though, only really getting into them in the second half... ah well, the championship's still on and the triple crown.. which, in a grand slam/world cup year, means very little to me right now :(

Well now... we weren't humped.... we just blew it at the end, we should have secured possesion at the end... Ah well bring on the English..... And then the Scots dunkman, you guys are going to get torn apart by that Irish team... No offence intended of course.

Ps. Never thought I would see a thread on here about Irish rugby... bloody hell! Pearl Jam fans have good taste in sport too!
    JUST PLAY THE F***ING NOTE!!!
