Ron Paul supports a complete repeal of the 16th Amendment. This would eliminate the federal income tax in America.
Hehehe. This is when your plan kicks in -- the one where everyone bands together and voluntarily kicks in their share to pay for infrastructure and military protection. Aint gonna happen.

Ah, yes, my nefarious plan wherein people get to freely choose what services they wish to consume and are expected to produce in equal measure accordingly. The height of great evil....
Aint gonna happen.
Never said it was going to happen. I don't think it will happen. That won't stop me from supporting Mr. Paul with a very clear conscience though. And if he walks away from an election with 1% of a vote, I'll know that there are still a few people out there who wish to deal with their fellow men with honesty instead of force.

Federal Income tax wasn't in full force among all the states until after 1913, yet our military defense was intact, even after a Civil War.
For some reason, the Ron Paul campaign is now obsessed with counting subscriptions to the individual youtube candidate channels. The latest in a string of 5-6 press releases on this:
Twice as Many, Twice
Congressman Ron Paul now has twice as many YouTube subscribers as all of the other Republican candidates for president combined. Here are the numbers:
Congressman Paul also has twice as many YouTube subscribers as Barack Obama who has 5,988, and nearly four times as many as Hillary Clinton who has 3,517 subscribers.
That is good news indeed. Should be an interesting debate. I wonder if he will take it right to Guiliani the first chance he gets.
I just hope he has an opportunity to better-state his position on that stage. He handled the last exchange poorly, and I'd really like him to come out firing with the same principles but a more complete and coherent message. The ideas themselves will be best served if he puts them forward on their own, as opposed to making it about Guiliani's understanding or lack thereof. I'd prefer it if he gets America thinking about principles instead of thinking just about Giuliani. But either way, I'm glad to see him still fighting. I expected to see him throw in the towel after the last debate. Go Ron....

Well I think he will be better prepared this time around. I also thought he was done after the last debate but I think support for him grew and maybe he realized that even though his chances of winning are slim he can still bring awareness to the flaws in our foreign policy and some of our domestic policies.

This I agree with. These alternative view guys are being afforded a very rare opportunity to present these ideas to the masses. I applaud them. Winning isn't everything. Never underestimate the power of communication and awareness in influencing people unconsciously. Especially from politicians.

Ron Paul = a breath of fresh air, quite potentially.
I will reserve final judgment about his merits until I think a bit more. For now, I am ... Intriged.
Though Ron Paul doesn't stand a chance, I'll be voting for him before I vote for Guiliani, Romney or McCain. If one of them get nominated, I'll write someone else in and let Hillary or Obama get elected president. I don't give a shit anymore...
Paul's right on everything. He's right on abortion, individual liberty, gun rights, foreign policy, and who knows what else.
My personal fav was Tom Tancredo though. The borders are a mess and Tancredo's the right guido to point it out.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

you agree w/ his stance on israel and 9/11?
standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way
so, ffg (or anyone else who supports ron paul), why do you think he's dropped so much in the polls? do you think it was his comments about what helps cause things like 9/11?
i didn't follow his numbers, or anyone's, too much then but it hought i rememebr before this he had a pretty good standing...then ppl started twisting what he said/meant and next thing you know he's not even listed anymore in the polls it seems...you got talkin heads like glenn beck misrepresenting what he said and meant and going on and on about how crazy he is and this and that...
do you think those comments were the reason/ a part of it? do you think it is justified or ppl are believing the misrepresentations put out about him?

"Dropped in the polls"??? What data are you looking at? Ron Paul is and has been at 1% in the real polls pretty much since the get-go. He's made little headway, but hasn't been dropping either. As far as web polls go, Ron is still destroying everyone on either side of the race. There's been no drop-off there.

Certainly his words have been twisted, but that's also his own fault for not clearly eludidating the concepts. I don't think too many Ron Paul supporters are going to be swayed by Glenn Beck, but he certainly didn't help himself with other Republican voters.
do you think those comments were the reason/ a part of it? do you think it is justified or ppl are believing the misrepresentations put out about him?
I don't think too many people are even aware of who he is. Go out into the streets and ask people "who is Ron Paul?". You'll get a vast majority of "I don't knows".
The coverage he's gotten post-debate has been a double-edged sword. Certainly it's turned some people off, but it's also turned some people on. I think the misrepresentations are somewhat justified based on what he said, but at the same time there are lots of people talking about what he meant by his words and that's gotten some good airtime too.
Paul is only partially right about the occupiers being those to blame for the suicide bombers. If you get right down to it, I think those people are 1 of 3 things, or all three things: 1) young, impressionable 2) disenfranchised (meaning no job or means to better oneself) 3) avengers of the death of a family member/friend.
The occupation is a catylist for it, but it isn't the only thing.
Dennis Miller, by his own logic, needs to be slapped around for being a threat to the country.
i am acting as jeff's message board secretary while he's in s america and he wanted everyone to know that ron paul is going to be on the daily show tonight. any ideas on what i should charge to tivo it for him????????

Hey, hallowedscorn! It's been awhile! How are you? Oh, so Jeff is gone away, and not just avoiding my questions to him in the liberal libertarian thread? Does he not have access to the board? baraka needs him to clean out some space in his pm box.

His pm box is his private message inbox for this board. From my understanding, he sent baraka a debate-pm, and she went to respond but his inbox is full. She told me as her board liaison (;)), if I see him, to get him to clear that out.

In much more substantive news, it looks like Mr. Paul will be participating in the next GOP debate on 6/5 on CNN from 7-9PM EDT.
