Don't you think this could be said for any candidate?

nah. jodie foster wont send any more crazies out to kill anybody.
It was only a few years ago james byrd jr was dragged in chains by a truck.
I think its perfectly rational to ask.
I am not voting for obama, but I dont hate the guy either.
But its clear our country is still racist.
Why isnt it a good question?
This just felt like a loaded question like, "Do you still beat your wife?".

as i said, it is sad the question needs to be asked but it does.
if we were living in a world where color didnt matter, and racism was a thing of the past, the question would be absurd.
but unless I am living in a cave here, I dont think the world is racism free. There are still racists who murder blacks.
over the summer some whites kidnapped a blakc woman and tortured her in a shack.
we all know police are notorious for wantonly murdering blacks.
as I say, its reality.
we live in a world where the color of your skin can get you killed
its home to the saturday market and the country fair (hippie gatherings). its known for being progressive and left wing
but its also racist.
Oregon is one of the most racist states, historically. There once wa sa restauraunt in portland that was a black mans lips, and you walked in to them to get into the restauraunt
when Dave Chappelle, gave a comedy performance here he said "Oh so I guess the 2 blacks in the state came to see this"
there is a x-files thing as well. X files as in the files left behind by black leaders in Eugene, who left town. Most common among their responses for leaving, was the idea that eugene is a racist town.
so yeah its a question thats sad and gross, but lets not act like we are all utopian rainbow children here people.
the united states is still racist and I assume the white aryan groups aint gonna be going "oh well Obama may be president, what can we do". I assume they are gonna be pissed.
But see, the thing is, the person asking the question is the one who seems to be fixating on color. You talk about wishing racism would be a thing of the past, and then fixate on color. I agree with other posters that this thread is strange.
yes there is racism
yes there are people that might be motivated to do something
so what are we supposed to discuss?
I'm pretty sure the aryan nations don't like any modern-day president we've had, since most of our presidents lately have pleged support for Israel, a target more interesting than the black man to the aryans.
No one else really thinks that it needs to be asked.
The vast majority of victims of white murders are white... I guess that means McCain and Clinton are fucked too...

and I don't see anyway possible that Obama could be more hated than W. has anybody made an attempt on W?
I'm from South Carolina, and our senior senator is gay as hell and none of us rednecks have left him to die tied to a fence. that should be proof how far the country has come in tolerating different kinds of people.
I think this is an interesting question simply because several different people have mentioned the same thing to me recently. It never occurred to me that Obama would be any more likely to be assassinated than any other president.
Why do people think this? Is it simply because of his race? If so, I’m curious why people think having a black president would lead to such hatred and violence more than having a female president would.
Or is it something else? If so, what? His charisma? His "threat" of change? I just don’t know. I’d like to know what others think.
Kennedy had the makings of one of the worst presidents ever. what "hope"? hope of starting a war that cost 60,000 US lives? I'd hope there is no similarities between JFK and Obama.
his campaign....his accomplishments should be debated in another thread. For the laymen amongst us, Kennedy was the great hope and movement away from the old machine.
really? because in my view, the "old machine" is made of men from families of wealth and power that never actually worked a day in their lives. that wasn't Kennedy was it?
To some extent things appear to have just been pushed below the surface it seems.
I would not put that below hillary's ambition
I agree dude, I have never been there. And I' am in no way implying that everyone in the state is like that. But put it this way, I can't imagine that happening in my hometown.
Was talking politics with couple people that brought this up....it is sad.....but don't think your post is sooo bad...sure there are lots of crakers that have thought of this....
They truly run and drive this country not the President.

i like others here, have thought about this. in fact my gf and i were playing cards tonight while watching CNN and getting the updates and i brought this up to her. i actually heard a group of guys sitting in the bar the other day say and i quote " i swear , if that ( derogatory name here ) gets elected, i'll fuckin' shoot the ( same derogatory name ) myself."
i almost threw up.
its sad yes. but lets face it. that shit is still out there.
nooses being hung in trees on school grounds? c'mon. lay off the guy for asking a question. maybe he/she should have worded it different, but its a question worth asking.
