    I'm more worried about John McCain falling and breaking a hip than Obama getting shot.

    Well judging by the 'Top Gear ' special (BBC car show) where they drove through Alabama, America still has a long way to go. These guys from the show would have (and were nearly killed) for having their cars painted with what most people would consider relatively mild remarks such as 'man love is ok'. Anyone watch this BTW?

    To some extent things appear to have just been pushed below the surface it seems.

    Don't knock a place unless you have been there......creative editing can make any place look bad....besides Obama won Alabama by a landslide.

    I agree dude, I have never been there. And I' am in no way implying that everyone in the state is like that. But put it this way, I can't imagine that happening in my hometown.

    Was talking politics with couple people that brought this up....it is sad.....but don't think your post is sooo bad...sure there are lots of crakers that have thought of this....

    If Obama is to be assassinated, it won't because of the color of his skin. It will be due more to opposing the status quo of warmongering or the Powers that be....CORPORATIONS.

    i think some are being a bit harsh on the poster for asking a question.

    i like others here, have thought about this. in fact my gf and i were playing cards tonight while watching CNN and getting the updates and i brought this up to her. i actually heard a group of guys sitting in the bar the other day say and i quote " i swear , if that ( derogatory name here ) gets elected, i'll fuckin' shoot the ( same derogatory name ) myself."

    i almost threw up.

    its sad yes. but lets face it. that shit is still out there.

    nooses being hung in trees on school grounds? c'mon. lay off the guy for asking a question. maybe he/she should have worded it different, but its a question worth asking.

    This a terrible, close-minded, ignorant thread. I haven't heard one person say anything derogatory about Obama from the standpoint of race.
    The only people we should try to get even with...

    My husband and I had a similar conversation. Only I said "we just need to keep him from being assisinated".

    If he is ultimately elected, the hill billies that can't tolerate an educated black man in office...combined with him just wanting to shake the status quo up a bit, I think the threat could be real.

    (and I am an Obama supporter :))

    I have a friend that said "I just can't vote for a black man". This guy is a red neck, mill-worker, so it didn't surprise me that he would feel that way. What surprised me was my response. I flat out called him a bigot.

    I understand all of you people saying that racism is still a real threat in this country, and yes, it does still exist. BUT... Doesn't the fact that we have a black man with a muslim name and woman arguably the favorites to be elected as the next president of the United States say how far we have come as a whole?!?!
    I was taught a month ago to bide my time and take it slow, but then I learned just yesterday to rush and never waste a day. Now I'm convinced the whole day long that all I've learned is always wrong. Things are true that I forget, but no one taught that to me yet
