I'm simply pointing out one of the hurdles he is going to have to jump in order to win a NATIONAL election.

Any honestly, that resume doesn't scream 'PRESIDENT' to me. I am more convinced that a Governor, who has run an entire state, having the final say, is more ready for the presidency than any State Rep/Senator or even federal Rep/Senator.

Yeah that worked out real well the last time a guv was elected President

you cant stand it huh. its killing you on the inside is it?

just becuase he was organized some job training for the poor doesnt make him overly qualified to be president of the united states.

he needs more life experience. he's barely in his mid 40s? nothing wrong with getting more experience. he is on the right track.

exactly...he should be drinkin', snortin' and running business into the ground, you know, the kind of stuff that looks good on a resume...;)

Obama has admitted to doing 2 of those 3, none of which involved running businesses into the ground.

    Hahaha...that was a good one.

Doesn't change my opinion though. Just need to elect better 'leaders'.

This will surely be interesting........but i dont know if he can get past the hillary machine.

that's a good point. It'll be a shame if he can't b/c if you think about cross over appeal HE has it...not hillary. He'll be one possibly that can't win his parties nomination but very well could win the presidency...Hillary can't.

After watching Obama on several shows this week, I have severe reservations about how successful he would be in a campaign against the GOP.

It does not appear that he would be willing to fight, and get down and dirty. It seems like he would take the "high road", which would get him nowhere in '08. Unfortunately, the GOP has no conscience, and to beat them you have to be willing to play their game. John Kerry learned this the hard way with the way the Swift Boat ads destroyed his momentum.

    Two points.

I'm pretty sure Bush made a similar promise when he ran for governor the second time.

I'm pretty sure Bush isn't really the one running the country anyway, so his lack of experience, for starters, doesn't really matter.

That being said, I do think a candidate probably should have more experience before running for president, but heck, maybe he could bring ol' Bill back to be his VP! Wouldn't that be a dream ticket?!

how about the dan rather memo gate?

    Ouch.

Okay, Rathergate. My impression of Rathergate was that the person feeding Rather the documents was a disgruntled Republican, but that's no nevermind. (Also, it's not clear to me the extent to which "the Democrats" were behind this, but I'll let that go.)

Second, I thought you were talking about campaign commercials. (You guys never ever stick to the point.) In terms of campaign commercials, Republicans have been the winners, hands down.

Starting with Nixon and his masters of dirty tricks -- who can forget the "Canuck letter":

Of course, there was Willie Horton ad devised by Lee Atwater (who on his deathbed renounced his role in developing the political strategies that were so low and dirty):
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Atwater

There were the push polls that destroyed McCain's chances in South Carolina, devised by none other than Karl Rove:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Push_poll

And of course, the totally fabricated and misleading Swift Boat ads that even Bush had to disavow:
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5797164/

And this season's ads -- playing to racist and sexist assumptions in Tennessee to fight off Harold Ford:
    http://guerillawomentn.blogspot.com/2006/10/gop-aims-sleazy-blonde-bimbo-ad-at.html

And my favorite -- the ad about the aide to a candidate for Congress who dialed an 800 number that was a sex phone line. Except he didn't do that at all.

And this is just off the top of my head. And all you've got is Dan Rather's fake memos?

It's true that Democrats play dirty politics, but let's face it -- this is something the Republicans have perfected. Because all they really care about is power.

You know what I love about you? I love the way that you ignore 95% of a post that you just can't refute. You can't answer my evidence about what scumbags Republicans are, so you resort to these ineffectual conclusory comments.

All politicians are corrupt. Ho hum. Yawn.

I cant argue with someone who is so liberal. any ad you see bashing republicans, no matter how dirty or wrong, you deem it a masterpiece. you are a pro at using google and wikipedia, i got it. its a waste of time to try to explain to you that both political parties play dirty during election time. you'll never agree, which is sad.
