God fucking forbid we have someone in control that has an ethnic background.. we NEED someone who has different cultures and beliefs. Did you ever stop and think that maybe having someone with a little more diversity and understanding of other cultures might benefit us? Because so far, the whole white man/republican thing hasnt worked out so well , OBVIOUSLY.

why? because it's un-American. yes we have all kinds of ethnic groups and different beliefs in this country. but I'm fed up with the audacity of people coming into this country demanding that we change the foundations on which America was built just to be "politically correct." every single stupid one of you is forgetting that this country was founded on C H R I S T I A N values. our forefathers would shit if they saw a man being sworn in as the President of the United States with his hand on the Koran and not the Bible, and that is actually what is about to happen here. that is not what this country is or what it should be. sue me for thinking it's a little more than scary for this nation to want to follow a man who followed this man for 20+ years:

last thing I will say about that it's funny how hypocritical people are by making a huge deal that Mitt Romney was a Mormon, but they're just dandy with Barack Obama who sympathizes with terrorists (look who he hangs out with) and who allowed himself to be mentored by people who obviously hate this country. face the facts and realize that you people were too desperate for "hope and change" for this country. for God's sake, you think I don't hope I can say I was wrong one day?? just remember, dems...... no more excuses. you have the House, the Senate...and now Obama. the slick talk and campaign are over, now we'll see what "hope and change" really mean...

I've always considered myself to be an optimist, but if you turn your brain to the "on" position and think about the hate for America in that video and how Obama could've possibly admired a man like that... it's tough to feel safe.

yeah, when he was 8 years old those terrorist must have been good friends of his.

If he hates this country so much, why did he spend 2 years trying to become president?

We need to move forward people. We have to let go of the party ties. We need to come together and really work together to fix this mess that we are in.

I feel like we can do that now. I did not feel that it would had been accomplished if the outcome was different.

Now, I can't agree with Goo, and having not voted for Obama I'm still reveling in his victory. But I just love this.

Unite under the democrats! But not the republicans. That's about as ridiculous as Pelosi's "We'll be more bipartisan with a larger majority!"

C'mon. Painting with broad strokes, but every democrat was so incensed at the "stolen" elections that they NEVER gave Bush a chance. It took a national tragedy to unite us for a fleeting moment. I will disagree with folks' policies and logic, but I just can't bring myself to then HATE them for how they think, how they govern. I can't make it personal. I just don't get it. And I'm a republican living in one of the most democratic-messed up states around!

And now we need to move forward. But the democrats have just spent eight years teaching me how to react to a president I didn't vote for?!?!! (Sure sure, which they learned from Republicans under Clinton, which they learned from Democracts under Reagan... yawn.)

I don't have any answers, Obama's my president-elect and I'll demonstrate for the time being how to support someone you didn't vote for. America is my country, I'll argue for what I think is right, and catch a concert with anyone who enjoys the same music I do.

Barack Obama has been a baptised christian for 20 years, presumably his plan to become some kind of radical islamic mole creeping his way into the White House to destroy America hasn't been gestating for that long? He is no more a muslim than you are European. Are we defined solely by our roots? Can we not evolve as people beyond that? Every single non native American is the descendent of fucking immigrants. Get that into your head. Your forefathers were no more or less American than Barack Obama. What the hell are you talking about, people "coming into this country"? Barack Obama was born in your country. That is what America was built on, the children of immigrants. Your ignorance is overwhelming, your fear of Islam born of startling prejudice. To see you telling people to turn their brains on is at once laughable and frightening.

And when the hell did muslims become something to fear anyway?

Senator Barack Obama was sworn with his hand on his own Bible, not on a Koran, get your facts straight!

that's just two that very clearly state that in FACT (facts are sometime useful when you are trying to make a point btw) he was sworn on a BIBLE!

You've been reading this haven't you?

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp

It's propaganda, and as snopes points out, false. It goes into detail about the thing you just mentioned. It was Congressman Keith Ellison, not Obama, who was sworn in on the Koran.

But thanks for bringing this up for me. I understand now why you are so misguided, since the extend of your political awareness is largely information you've gathered from chain e-mails. You'll understand if no one takes you particularly seriously.

Opinions that can be backed up are fine, passing off lies as reasons why he's a muslim terrorist are not. This is why people are disagreeing with you. Not because you're a christian. My mother is a baptist minister. I love her. I think you're a clown. Go figure.

The only issue anyone here has with morality is yours, or the lack thereof, and the lack of morality on the part of those you seek to align yourself with.

I remember back in 1997 when I saw the movie the Fifth Element in theaters, and the guy who played Debo in Friday was playing the role of the US President.

I thought to myself that it will be at least 100 years before Americans are open-minded enough to vote a black person into office. Of course, I couldn't be more glad to be wrong about that prediction.

And, for me, the cherry on the Sundae is the fact that he is an admitted recovering drug addict. As a youth struggling with his mixed heritage, he used cocaine and other hard drugs extensively to deal with the pain of feeling confused about his identity.

At least that's what he said in an autobiography.

Just before I graduated from college, I had an interview with the FBI. There were two agents interviewing me, and they both agreed that I was well qualified, and that I was exactly the type of student that the FBI was trying to recruit.

Then they dropped the bomb. My history of substance abuse as a teenager was not something that I could ever get around.

So, on top of the fact that I can never talk about my past to people with whom I work, I have to live with the fact that the past life that I've had absolutely nothing to do with for years prevents me from having the career that I really want.

Obama is my vindication. He is living proof that judging people for mistakes they made before they were old enough to vote or buy alcohol is ignorant and has no basis in reasonable thinking what-so-ever.

In fact, just for kicks I'm going to reapply and when they tell me about their drug policy, I'm going to say, "The president used to use hard drugs, and he's your boss. In fact, he's your boss's boss."

that's all I was asking you or anyone else to do was do more than say I give Christians a bad name, and to actually correct me if what I'm saying is untrue. so if I was wrong about the Koran, then I'm wrong. but can you honestly deny that it's at the very least SKEPTICAL how this man claims to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, yet have all the affiliations he's had? the fact that a man like Jeremiah Wright mentored our next president for 20 years is scary enough as it is. and Obama even went as far as to say that America is no longer a "Christian" nation. to me, that is wrong. he wants to balance everything in this nation so that no one will be "offended." that's not what America is. I believe we should welcome people of all kinds, but we're not going to change things around for you. and this man wants to do that. I don't walk into a Buddhist nation in Asia and get offended to hear a Buddhist prayer, for example. Obama wants to make our non-citizens a priority over our actual citizens. and really, why keep this thread going? you are getting what you voted for regardless of my disagreeing, so go have a beer and celebrate while you can. but I believe that it's just a matter of time before you regret it. if I'm wrong, then awesome.

It's not off the subject. It's a relevant parallel. A nation built on the principle of immigrants taking over people's land cannot talk of America as a sacred ideal without allowing newcomers the same opportunity to become part of it. As Mrs_Vedder said, if the Natives had taken your approach, there would be no America as you know it now, none of this bizarre idea of a perfect Christian ideal of a nation that you love so dearly.
