We've auctioned around 10 posters in the last 31 days and have raised over $4,500+. The Newcastle SE final bid was $579!
Now we have the Hampton Uncut SE with a special hand drawn doodle and embossed stamp logo up for auction.. I can't wait to see what that will go for.
We figure, a rough estimate, between all the pre-parties, t-shirts, posters and other merchandise, Pearl Jam fans will have donated over $100,000 from March of '06 to March of '07.
How amazing is that? It really does make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
are these things tax writeoffs since the money goes to charity?
i agree with Qball... you deserve many thanks along with ECM and the rest of the volunteers... great job!Don't Believe Everything You Think0 -

We'll be talking with our lawyer/CPA this week and covering this very same question, so I will have a confirmed answer shortly. That being said, I believe this is how it works:
If a poster costs $20 and you donate $20 then you don't get a tax receipt. If a poster costs $20 and you win a bid on eBay at $100, then you get to write off $80. So, say the average Wishlist poster costs around $5, you can write off $15 for donation.
You'd need a tax receipt from either us or the NW CCFA. Our 501(c)(3) application is being submitted either this week or next week once we get it back from the lawyers. The lawyers advised us that it can take anywhere from 8 months to a year for the application to be processed/approved because our lovely governmental system is backed up. The good thing is that once we're approved, our tax exemption status is retroactive to when we incorporated.
What does all that mean?
It means that you can either a) submit a list of your donations now to us now and waitl until we can provide you with a tax receipt once we have our tax exemption status or b) submit a list of your donations now and the NW CCFA has offered to provide tax receipts for us until we get our exemption status.
A very long-winded explaination - sorry! But if you are interested in getting a receipt, email me at laura@wishlistfoundation.org.
All of this will be posted on our site sometime in the next 2 weeks as well.0 -

and i thought " big sky " was a guy selling posters on e-bay,....Emek wrote:The Birthplace of Big Sky...
In Holland in the late 1500s, artists such as Claes Jansz Visscher and Willem Buytewech developed landscape art, which focused on topographically-correct landscape representation. "Land"-scape was influenced more and more by epic visions of the vast and moody "sky"-scape of the Netherlands. The sky took up more and more of the artwork. Landscape art reached its peak between 1630 and 1660 through Rembrandt van Rijn, Jacob van Ruisdael, and Jan van Goyen. By the late 1700s, these Dutch paintings had become so common that cheap prints (the equivalent of rock posters) were made and available far and wide, influencing other art with their depictions of vast skies. Interestingly, one such print was found in a water-tight sealed bottle in the belly of a whale captured by a Japanese fishing boat in 1907. Exactly one hundred years after that, the spirit of the mighty whale lives on as evoked by the many songs of the band The Decemberists, here seen swimming above the moody twilight, back in the big skies of Amsterdam- escorted by the fleeing spirit of the Crane Wife. For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

Hello Everyone,
Wanted to drop in and say thanks to the Wishlist folks for all the time and effort they've put into getting this poster series off the ground and into orbit. Keep up the great work!!!
I also want to thank everyone who picked up the Newcastle poster and all the nice words you've shared. It was a fun poster to put together and I'm thrilled that it has been well received.
That said, I will be releasing an art print of the poster soon after Wishlist finishes their sales and auctions. I can't reveal any details yet but soon enough though...stay tuned!
If you haven't already, head over to my site http://www.leefenvisual.com, sign up for my email list and be first to know when the art print will be released.
Cheers!

hey Lee
Since we have an expert here I have a couple of questions.
So how exactly do you create posters?
Is it all on a computer?
Do you draw it and then scan it?
Is it different each time?
What software do you use?
I'm really interested on how posters are created from beginning to end. I assume you can share some info with us without giving away any secrets?
