This has less to do with race, IMO, and more to do with cops being ignorant assholes on power trips. I wouldn't feel any different if it were three white guys leaving a strip club.
Further, I find it kinda funny that cops are hanging out in strip clubs and calling it work. Sure there might be some legitimacy to the whole 'undercover investigation of a prostitution ring' or whatever but come on. My money says that they're fucking pigs doing nothin' but getting paid to hang out at strip clubs and shoot their guns.

If you saw three dudes gun down three cops and get acquitted then you'd see more outrage than in this case.

i pulled up the story on msn and there's a picture of bell's fiance (standing next to sharpton, the original media whore), and the caption says her name is Nicole Paultre-Bell. now why is that? they weren't yet married. when the shooting first happened, she wasn't using his name, was she? so why has she NOW taken his last name? maybe so that her name can have that much more ZING on the cover of the book i'm sure she's already writing in her head or has already written/paid someone to write for her?
i realize that they have two kids together, but that, to me, looks like she's cashing in on his death. it makes me sick.

SHe legally had her name changed after he died. He was killed on what would have been her wedding day
She is the person I feel the most sorry for.
Also, this case, the number of shots are being confused with Diallos' shooting. There were 50 shots fired at Sean Bell.
And regarding the racism, two of the three cops on trial were African American
I think a key point is that they were undercover and had been drinking, not to say that is an excuse but it could have clouded/impaired their judgment
and what hurt the case imo based on what is coming out now is how the two other shooting victims (his friends) kept changing their testimony

I don't know the whole story, but based on what I've read today I have one major issue that hasn't been brought up yet.
These were undercover cops in street clothes. The men they shot at most likely had no idea they were cops, and I would guess they reacted as any of us would to some random asshole with a gun- flee. It's written that one cop was brushed by the car and I can easily see how the cops would see that as an attempt to run one of their own down. Interestingly the cop who was brushed only fired 4 times. I know if I thought a car was going to run me down, and I had a gun, I'd unload every last bullet into the oncoming car.
I don't trust the police very much, and this story has done nothing to further my trust. It's an awful situation and my heart goes out to his fiancee and family. Likewise to the officers and their families, if they truly acted in a fit manner. If not, I really hope the case gets looked at further.

Why don't you tell me if you think 50 shots is overkill when someone is firing at YOU. Or at least you think someone is firing at YOU. And when the perp just tried to run over one of your fellow officers. There is absolutely no time to think, to try and evaluate the situation. Maybe the cops did no wrong, and maybe they did do wrong. But I don't think anyone, myself included, should try to judge them unless they've been in that exact situation
