sounds right - I remember getting my pc in my flat in 99 and felt like xmas when I found the pj website - it had a hand-written letter by ed as the front page if i remember right - wonder if anyone has the text noted down. I also used to go on the bbs - alt.music.pearljam in 1994 first off. They had a thread called the rumor pit I think it was, or rumour slayer - and it was run by two people called DigitalKat and OftheSea..... remind you of anyone??

    Radar upright directionals
    darting across my yard

    they only say it once

i wonder if my poems argue with one another when i close my notebook

if 'porcupine earth' and 'to the debris! now rafts' argue over
the rights to describing my obsession with driving alone

or if 'world piece' and 'songwriters' debate over whose opening line
    is better

or even if 'impostor's creed' is in some sort of property dispute
with 'hymn for her' over whose weeds are growing
    into whose garden, etc.

they are, of course, on consecutive pages

i wonder if jotting this poem down into that notebook might ease some of the tension
if the other poems will read this one and learn a valuable lesson
realizing that they each earned their page and their place in my heart

or maybe this poem will simply cause more tension

"why does [untitled] get to criticize the rest of us?"
    asked 'quarter century blues'

maybe this particular poem will get a big head
and start judging the other poems

or maybe, my poems don't say a word

I'd love to hear how that sounds. Has it had an influence on the type of subjects you're focused on?

i think maybe as we grow older, we get into different things, such as poetry for example, we run into different groups of folks that we may not have met earlier.

  • to get to heaven

    if i could
    be around you
your belt could be my bible

    while the holy trinity plays
    connect the dots
    to hold starry pants high

    navy blue backgrounds
    construction paper kings
    drawn with crowns

    kindergarten mispronunciations

    and the phone rings
a bell that cracks over and over and remains
the sound i hear climbing ladders

    if i could

Otherwise engaged - probably meaning 'involuntarily detained at her majesty's pleasure' -( not that place, the other place - our special place. known to only a privileged few). I'm full of mystery until you know what I'm talking about - then I'm clear as the bloody daylight!!

Things are picking up round here - there's sizzling poetry cropping up on every corner - people fucking, fighting and forgetting out on mainstreet - posters are being exchanged hand over fist for vintage vinyl. I'm mellow on green tea, cigarettes and the history of island records lp (1962-1987)-right now it's the israelite:s - getting nostalgic for the time when people other than pearl jam gave a shit about music - and for once I'm spoilt for choice about which thread to post in! It's a rock and roll sunday indeed
