    i had trouble looking at my work sometimes. some pieces it was hard to believe that i came up with them. others it was obvious to me at least, that i wasn't in full control.

    hamish was helping davey load the catalogues for anna's show into davey's beaten up station wagon. he rested and picked one up. he flicked through it while davey continued loading.

    hamish could see he'd hit a nerve with davey. and not gotten anywhere with anna himself, hamish wanted to milk it for all it was worth. if he thought he could get away with asking how she was in bed, he would.

    hamish like to piss people off. he didn't always but lately he just couldn't be bothered being nice. he'd push anna if he thought he could put one over on her. he knew though that doing that would be biting off more than he could chew.
    hamish threw the catalogue back in the box and went and sat in the passenger's seat.

    Yes I regrettable did. It wasn't a pleasant conversation as you might imagine.

    watch himself yeah right. those years with anna, he'd spent so much time watching her that he had just been along for the ride. but it was a thrilling ride for the most part. losing the baby hadn't been a barrel of laughs and he'd made mistakes there, but it's hard to regret things you've done when you've followed your heart. though perhaps hooking up with tanya had been about something other than his heart.

    'i'm talking with her hamish. it's not like i'm looking to get back together with her. so what happened with johnny?'
