I think the best opening act I ever saw was a little band out of Seattle called Soundgarden...They opened up for GNR @ MSG 1991...Pearl Jam openers..I like Ben Harper now but had no clue who he was when he opened for PJ in 96

    The Ramones.
I'm still MEGA PISSED that i had tickets to see them with PJ in New Orleans, '95, but the fuckers canceled and rescheduled the tour. I had summer school when they rescheduled. Damn it. Alegbra II\Trig blows.

    :(

KoL a very close second, for me.
    S-K was good.
KoL are just a bit more my style.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

    Ramones!!!!
    Conversations getting dull
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
    And I'm bored to tears.......

Uh does PJ count opening for the Rolling Stones? If not the best opener I guess would have to be MMJ, all I have seen is MMJ, Sparta(who sucked), and wheover played Boston II in '04. If I could choose a band from Lolla since technically PJ is the headliner and everyone else is before them, it would have to be a lityle British blues band called Back Door Slam. The guitarist was ridiculously awesome.
    32 shows and counting...

    Both in 1995:

    1) Bad Religion
    1A) Ben Harper

My Morning Jacket kicked ass. All the others I've seen were either terrible or forgettable.

    Been to about 60 shows.

Ben Harper in 98-00 will always be a standout. I think that was his prime though many will disagree

Actually enjoyed Supergrass in Montreal quite a bit and of course MMJ is amazing. Just didn't really get into the sets as an opener.

So yeah, best ever was Ben harper MSG 98

Just PJ, I've seen a few great ones:

    Mudhoney
    Brad
    Sonic Youth
    MMJ
    Ben Harper

And lots of other ok ones, plus a few duds (Steve Earle bored the heck out of me)

Yup. A few nights later in Mansfield he was awesome. His version of Voodoo Child rocked. Didn't hurt having amazing seats.
