VFC simply preached to the choir over and over. The people at those shows in 04 were proabably 99% percent anti Bush before the tour was even thought of. Obama will dominate the Northeast and most of the West. But without Ohio or Florida he'll have the same fate that Kerry did. I say leave Obama alone and good things will happen. This guy is dynamic in a way the Kerry could only dream of.
No one cares about Toby Keith in the south. You think poor people from the rural parts of the state vote? The white upper and middle class in the south do not listen to Toby Keith. It's the poor people that live in rural areas that listen to country. Most of the middle and upper white class young adults listen to Phish and Widespread panic. They also will most likely vote republican because a lot of people believe being a democrat makes you a pussy and their parents are republicans, so they vote like their parents. The white Christians in the south will vote republican because they believe that abortion is bad and the democrats support it. If the democrats did not support abortion you would see the south go back to being a democratic strong hold like it was for most of the history of the United States. Also the majority of the people that live in cities in the south are black. So Pearl Jam or any other rock band isn't going to get them out to the polls in November.0 -

This is partly true, but misses the mark.
The purpose of the VFC Tour was NOT to get Republicans to switch over from Bush to Kerry. Anybody with a brain should know that a bunch of musicians do not have the power to make a significant number of people, young or old, to change their political minds by playing music.
Rather, the VFC Tour was more of a rallying cry for young democrats to actually exercise their power to vote. Sure, 99% of the people attending the shows were already anti-Bush, but how many of them sat at home on election day without casting their vote?
I don't believe that music can influence people to change their political preference, but I do believe that it can inspire people to passionately exercise their right to vote.Everything has chains...Absolutely nothing's changed. - PJ
