I looked straight throught the creature
Looking for it's secrets
Forgetting all the beauty and awe
I felt as a child
Before I learned about the chains
In a smaller time
When I twisted and turned
Called myself an elf
Looked in the water
And there saw myself
There is no separation between
The ocean and the forest
I am a part of everthing around me
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
We built the answers
To the problems
That cause more problems
We are created from matter
So, when it no longer matters
We are no longer creative
We need to open our eyes wider
We need to be kinder
We need love
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
A thin sheen of sweat is all that clothes her skin
Heat enveloping her
Eminating from her
She waits,
She waits,
She waits,
Her thoughts the only things
That keep her here
Of him
She whispers his name
Closes her eyes
Tracks on her cheeks
Closes her right hand
Over her left breast
Feels her heart beating fast
Faster,
Ever faster,
Like her breath
Passing over her parched tongue
And pushing past her dry, chapped lips
Her stomach churning
She hungers
Thoughts of his healing hands,
Gentle caresses,
Passionate kisses,
Promises of a brighter future,
Words of wisdom,
Make her feel so empty,
So alone,
Incomplete,
Something other than herself
Underneath her right hand
She feels her heart slowing
Twisting,
Wrenching,
Feels her breath escape her
To find a more worthy host
Oh that darkness feels hotter still
It's slowly numbing her skin,
Her entire being,
It's overwhelming her,
She sleeps,
And still there is no peace
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
How people clamour for attention
How they forget about what's real
How they get wrapped up in themselves
And forget that others feel
They put on their smiles
And they put you on trial
And they draw and they quarter you
But once they consume you
They martyr you
Funny how that works
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
Wake up young man, it's time
To wake up
Your love affair has got to go
For 10 long years the leaves
To rake up
Slow suicide's no way to go
Blue, clouded grey
You're not a crack up
Dizzy and weakened by the haze
Moving onward
So an infection not a phase
The cracks and lines from
Where you gave up
They make an easy man to read
For all the times you let them
Bleed you
For little peace from God you plead
And beg
For a little peace from God you plead
Words by Layne Staley
I just love this song! So, I had to include it!
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
I shut and locked the front door.
No way in or out.
I turned and walked the hallway, and pulled the curtains down.
I knelt and emptied the mouth of every plug around.
But nothing's sound. Nothing's sound.
I stayed where my last step left me.
Ignored all my rounds.
Soon I was seeing visions and cracks along the walls.
They were upside down.
I swallowed my words to keep from lying.
I swallowed my face just to keep from biting.
I swallowed my breath and went deep, I was diving.
I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened.
You're in hiding (today)
It's been about three days now since I've hit the ground.
No longer overwhelmed.
And it seems so fucking simple now.
It's funny when things change so much, it's all state of mind.
I swallowed my words to keep from lying.
I swallowed my face just to keep from biting.
I swallowed my breath and went deep, I was diving.
I surfaced and all of my being was enlightened.
You're in hiding (today)
ps I got something you can swallow.
pss Happy Birthday, you effervescent-peppermint-mentally-pliable-utterly-reliable-squirrel-of-a-pearl-jam-of-my-hand-i-better-stop-now.
I had to add this song too as it is where I plucked my user name and it is just such a fucking great tune! And since Radar put such a nice little personal spin on it, I had to import it here! Sometimes I need to hide. And sometimes I need to swallow. And sometimes I need to swallow to hide!

Do it in the snow?
Why don't we
Do it in the snow?
Why don't we
Do it in the snow?
Why don't we
Do it in the snow?
No one will be watching us
They'll all be inside 'cause it's too bloody cold!
I've used this one before too but since it IS snowing here, it reminded me of this. I love to put my own little silly spins to song lyrics too! It's entertaining!

...listening to Van (the man) Morrison...
"...can I just have one more moondance with you, my love..."
You gently move my hair from my shoulder
Your light hesitant breath on my neck
I feel your tongue on my skin
Sweet nibbles making me moan
Sending shivers up my spine
Light kisses whisper by my ear
Make me catch my breath
Your lips demanding mine
Your tongue so hungry
One hand caressing my heart
The other's fingers entwined in my hair
I writhe with ecstasy
My loins tingling with desire
Your kiss could set my world on fire

Here's another song I really love by Robert Plant and Phil Johnstone.
On waves of love my heart is breaking
Stranger still my self-control, I can't rely on anymore
New tides surprise, My world it's changing
Within this frame, An ocean swells
Behind this smile, I know it well
Beneath a lovers moon - I'm waiting
I am the pilot of the storm
Adrift in pleasure - I may drown
I built this ship it is my making
And further more my self control
I can't rely on anymore
You claim that no man is an island
While I land up in jeopardy
More distant from you by degrees
I walk this shore in isolation
And at my feet eternity
Lays ever sweeter plans for me
I know why
Helpless on a ship of fools
Turn this boat around back to my loving ground
Ship of fools
Love those lyrics!

I say "poetry" b/c I'm not sure if that's what you
want to call it. This sounds like something I wouldn't say,but you did put ti out there for everyone which takes balls.

Here's a poem and a quote and then some good lyrics. The quote ties two totally unrelated emotions together that, I suppose, maybe, are somehow related? Or just relative to me.
My eyes water
And my heart aches
I poured it out to someone
And they will never hear
Couldn't hear even though I want them to
I'll tell myself it's better this way
I'll know I'm only lying to myself

Civil War - (Slash/Duff McKagen/Axl Rose)
Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before
Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before
My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars
D'You wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "Peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
An I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land
And
I don't need your civil war
It feed the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
Look at the shoes you're filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more
My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homocide
And history bears the scars of our civil war

This one's for my best friend since childhood. She's a beautiful, loving, giving, caring girl. I've truly been so lucky to have her throughout my life. Always encouraging and never judgemental. Truly an angel. I only wish she had wings so she could fly by and visit more often. And I know your not logging on girl but I know you're reading and probably shirking grading papers to do so and I love you for it!!! BTW- She's a writer and a teacher! (she was the smart one ).
Too many rings
My heart starts to sink
But then
Your sweet voice is on the line
Images of yesteryear
Flash across my mind's eye
When we'd bake cookies
When we saw AHA at Massey Hall
When we'd go to your house
At lunch break
And watch stupid soaps
And I'd drag you to all
Those cheesy horror flicks
And you'd make me
Watch movies with sub-titles
And how your mom and dad
Were so sweet to me
That reflects so much in you
All that kind-hearted love
Not that we weren't bad
We made our crank calls
And ordered pizzas
To other people's houses
And held our breath at the pool
Until that girl we were hiding from left
Now though we're miles apart
When we speak
It's as if no time has past
Although so much has
And we're SO different
You so studious and smart and shy
Me so wild and wacky and silly
We just accept eachother as is
Your friendship is the most beautiful
It's been one of the few constant
Most comfortable and wonderful
Things that has ever entered my life
I think you know that I love you
And I hope you know that you
Are one of the best things to ever happen to me!

Upsidedown
Chained
Ridiculed
Burn Me
Brand Me
Just can't stand me
Well,
I'm just burned
I'm just branded
I'm just one you just can't stand
Ridicule only makes me stronger
Your chains can't bind me
But they tend to turn me on
And being upsidedown makes it easier
For me to pleasure you

Sad night. Consoling my sister whose man just left with a kiss and hasn't called for 3 days. Too depressed to write my own shit. So, today I leave you with some words from Leonard Cohen from Stranger Music.
With Annie gone,
Whose eyes to compare
With the sunrise?
Not that I did compare,
But I do compare
Now that she's gone.
Forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. - Leonard Cohen
