my guess...January now...and I dont think thats smart of them...maybe December but I doubt the band will tour the US during christmas
perhaps they dont care enough to do a 40 date tour of the US when you largely ignored them for the first 10 years or so... now you know how it feels to be a UK based Pearl Jam fan... those fuckers havent been to Scotland since 2000... and since 2000 they've had what 2 shows in London? one of which was harder to get into than Debbie Gibson's panties.
they'll do a US tour.. but we've supported them since the start and thats where the loyal and supportive fanbase is.. not some yanks waving foam fingers at them...
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

Maybe you forgot but they cancelled a lot of dates in the US due to fighting back in the 90's...a lot of people got turned off by that..but not the core fans who show up to every show. I cant explain why PJ wouldnt play Scotland and thats a shame and I hope they play there soon. As for the comment about waving a "foam finger" when or where exactly did you see that cause foam fingers suck

this is why Oasis dont like playing the US... you guys struggle with foam finger jokes.
I didnt forget that.. Oasis is the band i grew up with... i'm an uberfan... but i think its highly arrogant of you and some of the other US'ers to say that them touring the UK first to promote a new album is 'wrong'... excuse me but the band is British, have sold most of their records here, garnered their awards here and if they did a US tour first to promote the album it would a) backfire on them as it'd be seen as selling out and b) be a kick in the teeth to the hugely loyal support they have here... and they know where their bread is buttered.

Oh thats not true...Oasis is always going to be huge in the UK. The bottom line is they are signed with a new label that wants to promote the hell out of them in the US..its time that Oasis took off again here and the label and then band know it. They have a golden opportunity. The album will be out for a good 3 months before they hit the US for a full fledged tour. Thats a lot of time before promoting. You know as well as I that US fans are fickle and a lot dont have a good enough attention span...sad..but true. The UK and Europe are going to be there. Do I understand why they are touring there first..yes. Its obvious. Does it make sense in the grand scheme of their new labels trying to push them back to the top in the US...no...not really. And if you havent read NME today our kid wants to move to NYC so I wouldnt say they dont like the US

that's what i was thinking. if they're working so hard to get back in the game in the us, then it doesn't make much sense not to tour here for several months. if they don't care, then the uk makes perfect sense. hell, they could play a few shows in the uk, come here, and do the whole uk later. people will still want to see it. they've got the main page ad on itunes in the usa right now, it doesn't make much sense not to capitalize on that. if they don't want to, then it doesn't make much sense to spend that kind of money on promotion here.

well Liam only wants to move to NYC in the hope that he gets to hump Yoko Ono before she dies...
Noel (and i'll just say Noel as he is the Chief ) is the one who makes the decisions really... and he doesnt like touring that much... read the new Q magazine interview when you guys get it..(its actually the same interview that Liam says he wants to move to NYC, but only after the kids have grown up) but the idea of a 15 month tour isnt really what he wants... and Noel knows that sustaining a British interest is more important to him than trying to 'break' the States... its not part of their remit...
i could and probably will post you several youtube clips of Noel & Liam saying how little they care about breaking America... signing a new deal doesnt mean Noel becomes a record company's bitch... he's got £40million in the bank, 2 stalkers and a rolls royce.. he wont care

but here is where they are at... they just sold out a entire tour in a day... 180,000+ tickets... in a day.
we have supported them and bought their stuff from day one... why should they make us wait 3 months for a tour? just so the US can capitalise? fuck that... every single US band that i like plays over in the States first, then heere... think of PJ... they will always sell out their US shows wont they? so why not come to Europe to launch their album by your rationale? make you guys wait 3 months before gigging the new release.
i cant actually believe this conversation took place... Oasis are a British band.. to start of the launch of a new album in any other country would be unjustifiable... moronic even... be like *insert american band here* launching their album here
*actually some US bands do... Kings of Leon for one... but then thats because they are 'bigger' here than the US... i think thats what seals the deal in this respect... why fuck over your other fans to gain more fans? you'll just end up doing a Robbie Williams...

Last time I checked there are more people in the US than the UK thats why. The money is here. Oasis is bigger in the UK..yes..but can you imagine if they sold out the same amount of seats in America? You're talking geographical loyalty...its not always possible in the business world and the music world is BUSINESS. The Gallaghers have always played geopgraphical loyalty and it backfired and they know it. Look at the Verve..Stereophonics..Travis..they all tired to break america but werent given then same push and opportunities Oasis has been given. The UK has great taste in music...the US not so much..but Oasis proved they could own the US if they wanted to..they're getting older...wiser....they know its time to take one last stab before giving up..thats why they Warners and Sony are pushing this album and thats why the band is promoting the shit out of it with radio and TV promotion like they never have on this scale before.

utter arrogance.. and thats why i hope they dont bother touring. if you're all so wealthy then fly here to see them... more people?? start their next tour in China should they?

this bit is better. but the day Oasis start using the US as their starting point is the day me and many fans like me will desert Oasis. So they gain more fans in the US but lose them elsewhere... not good business.. keep a loyal fanbase.. thats how it works and works well.

no no no...not utter arrogance...not at all..its just the fact..nothing more. and people in China are poor...they dont have enough money to go to concerts unfortunately or else you're right. And what do you call the statement "the day Oasis start using the US as their starting point is the day me and many fans like me will desert Oasis?" do you ever think a PJ fan would say that? no...you wouldnt abandon them and you know it..i call that selfish dont you?

if you start a thread called "PJ should kick off their future tours in Europe" and then see what people say about that... I know that PJ start their new album tours in the states, thats what they do and wil continue to do so.
I'd abandon Oasis if they kicked off a new album tour in the states simple because they are putting money (when they dont need it) before that of the people who got them rich in the first place... selling out we call it.
not selfish on my part... it'd be selfish on theirs.
why do you want them to make it huge over there anyway... all it means is that tickets become harder to get? They'll play the states just wait your turn.. its what i've been doing for 13 years or so following Pearl Jam.
I fail to see the argument?

No argument..I am passionate about the band...wouldnt you want them to be successful here if you lived here?...I just would like to see more people over here be as crazy about them as some of us are...we're a little jealous of the UK for that. I would looooove to make a show over there...it would be a treat for me as a diehard oasis fan.

this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard dude
..and you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable

ok amigo.. i just took offence at your labelling their career moves as wrong.. they've sold 50 million albums doing things this way... it isnt a bad career move or wrong.. its just how they do it... and rightly so in my opinion.
but its nice to see they have fans as passionate as us over there... thats heartening

im in total agreeance...to be honest the UK could wait..they know the album would blow up there
not as dumb as an american telling us why we should wait for the band to tour their own country

in 98, pearl jam's tour started in australia. in 2000, the tour started in europe. in 2003, australia and southeast asia again. i thought it was weird because the band seemed to be making a huge effort to recapture some of their momentum in the US at the time.
that's all i'm saying. i had heard oasis was trying to kick start their US profile again and if they want to do that it makes sense to tour while they're paying for heavy promotion on itunes and in US magazines, to capitalize on those efforts. if they don't give a shit, then by all means, kick things off in europe. i couldn't care less what they do, as long as they get here sometime so i can see them. all i'm saying is that it didn't seem to make much sense from a business perspective given all this talk about breaking the US. perhaps that talk is just coming from their record company and the band doesn't give a fuck. i wouldn't know. they don't get magazine interviews here unfortunately
This whole argument is silly, since they've already kicked off the tour and it's neither in the UK nor the US. Although their first date was in the US...does that mean dunkman is abandoning them now?;)

I did just spit out my drink laughing cause I was just thinking the same thing a little while ago

I happen to agree with you
it is much colder in Canada
seriously, I love montreal, and go to formula one race there each year, but Im not spending that kind of dough for oasis.

They were never good and they're getting further away from being so.

utter arrogance.. and thats why i hope they dont bother touring. if you're all so wealthy then fly here to see them... more people?? start their next tour in China should they?
this bit is better.
no no no...not utter arrogance...not at all..its just the fact..nothing more. and people in China are poor...they dont have enough money to go to concerts unfortunately or else you're right.

No argument..I am passionate about the band...wouldnt you want them to be successful here if you lived here?...I just would like to see more people over here be as crazy about them as some of us are...we're a little jealous of the UK for that.

this is the dumbest thing i've ever heard dude
ok amigo.. i just took offence at your labelling their career moves as wrong.. they've sold 50 million albums doing things this way... it isnt a bad career move or wrong.. its just how they do it... and rightly so in my opinion.
but its nice to see they have fans as passionate as us over there... thats heartening
you're Canadian.. i seriously doubt that.. Celine Dion for instance.
not as dumb as an american telling us why we should wait for the band to tour their own country
in 98, pearl jam's tour started in australia. in 2000, the tour started in europe. in 2003, australia and southeast asia again. i thought it was weird because the band seemed to be making a huge effort to recapture some of their momentum in the US at the time.
that's all i'm saying. i had heard oasis was trying to kick start their US profile again and if they want to do that it makes sense to tour while they're paying for heavy promotion on itunes and in US magazines, to capitalize on those efforts. if they don't give a shit, then by all means, kick things off in europe. i couldn't care less what they do, as long as they get here sometime so i can see them. all i'm saying is that it didn't seem to make much sense from a business perspective given all this talk about breaking the US. perhaps that talk is just coming from their record company and the band doesn't give a fuck. i wouldn't know. they don't get magazine interviews here unfortunately
thanks
wish me luck too!
