Zeitgeist by The Pumpkins is my favourite so far but I'm lookin forward to Jimmy Eat World's new one.
I don't know if it came out this year or last year, but the Silversun Pickups album is great too.

Nothing beats Dinosaur Jr's Beyond so far for me, and I can't think of anything else coming out this year that has much of a chance.

Besides Dino, I really like Icky Thump, and the Superbad soundtrack (which I'm counting because most of it is new music recorded for the movie).

Zeitgeist was good but not great, and I'm liking the new Ben Harper so far.

It's still too early to choose a favorite right now. The contenders so far:

    Arcade Fire- Neon Bible
    Wilco- Sky Blue Sky
    Feist- The Reminder
    Buffalo Tom- Three Easy Pieces
    Julie Doiron- Woke Myself Up
    Dinosaur Jr.- Beyond
    Ron Hawkins- Chemical Sounds
    New Pornographers- Challengers
Queens of the Stone Age- Era Vulgaris
Jason Isbell- Sirens of the Ditch
    Ryan Adams- Easy Tiger
Pearl Jam- Live at the Gorge
    White Stripes- Icky Thump
    Lucinda Williams- West

And I still have these to look forward to:

The Weakerthans- Reunion Tour (Sept. 25)
Foo Fighters- Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace (Sept. 25)
Steve Earle- Washington Square Serenade (Sept. 25)
Eddie Vedder- Into the Wild Soundtrack (Sept. 18)
Wintersleep- Welcome to the Night Sky (Oct. 2)
The Boss & the E Street Band- Magic (Oct. 2)
Cuff the Duke- Sidelines of the City (Oct. 23)

well it's Ike Rielly by a mile with We Belong to the Staggering Evening nothing is fucking close, It's looking like it might join Mark Lanegan Bubblegum and Hold Steady's Seperation Sunday as the "Top Albums of the Decade". Otherwise Beyond is pretty fucking good, so is The Jason Isbell record, but nothing beats Ike and not much ever will.

These are my favorites so far this year (in no particular order):

    !!! - Myth Takes
    M.I.A. - Kala
Interpol - Our Love To Admire
The Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
The Good, The Bad, and The Queen

Arcade Fire's "Neon Bible", and it isn't even close. In fact, I think I can safely call it my favorite album of the decade. I'd throw The Shins' "Wincing the Night Away" in second.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
  • HANDS DOWN Icky Thump! Nothing even came close

if the Gorge box set count in this matter, then the Gorge wins with no competition in sight.

best studio album = dino jnr. - beyond
