Call me "Johnny Come Lately", but I absolutely love this band. I haven't been really excited about new music for about ten years or so, but this band blows me away.

Their new album, "The Black Parade" is simply amazing. I realize they've been around for a couple years now, but I'm just now catching on. Their appearance on SNL last week grabbed me, but sampling the songs on iTunes hooked me.

I know this sounds like an ad for the band, but I'm truly excited about their brand of jam.

Any thoughts?

  • I got home with "The Black Parade" an hour ago and am finding it unsuspectedly good. I wasn't a big fan of "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge," and I was a bit suspicious of TBP because of all the hype. I mean, Blender called it an instant classic so all is up for speculation. But yeah, it's proving to be a pretty decent listen.

It sounds like MCR is moving from the pop/punk/screamo/what ever you want to label it territory to full on rock 'n roll band.

Is it just me or the lead singer is looking like a cross beween Billy Corgan and Annie Lennox?

  • i saw them last year in concert and they sucked live. i think their theatrics distract from their lack of live ability. i dont really care for their sound, but i do respect the band. better than this panic at the disco bullshit

LMAO! Wasn't there a thread a couple weeks back about these guys? This band is pure shite. I still cannot understand how anyone in their right mind can listen to or endorse this shitty crap. Pure shit. THey will probably be huge too. Thats the sad thing.

Probably; so everyone do your bit for society and break a radio.

Seriously though, fair enough if people like them, who am i to tell people they are crap?

I personally cant stand them though.
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.
  • yes we understand. they're emo screaming emo's..or were.

mcr gets a bad rep just like every other really popular band that is actually good because theres alot of tasteless people who like them....but they really are a good band!!!

they're last album was really emo..but it was great. this album is just pure rock and is even better.

they even make fun of their emo fans in their songs.

"so darken your clothes...or striken a violent pose, maybe they'll leave you alone but not me...ya teenagers scare the living shit out of me"

say what you want but this is one of the best albums in a long time

or he could be making fun of goths and gangsters. emo isnt all dark clothes. and they are a wimpy type of people so the violent pose makes no sense to emos.

Ditto, ditto, ditto. Add Fall Out Boy, and every other poppy/top 40 wanna be rock boy's band with skinny, pale, shitty tattoos, dyed jet black hair, makeup, and painted fingernails members who all think they are bad asses and so rock n roll. They all make me sick and it started with Blink 182. They are to blame. Every fucking one of these bands sound the same and should not be considered music. Pure shit. The music industry is dropping big piles of shit all over the world.

There's a quote from the liner notes of a cd called 'Brit Hop and Amyl House' that is appropriate here:

But at least Greenday was closer to being punk than pure crap. Green Day has their own sound, but this new shit, well as I said earlier, it's all shit. It all sounds the same.

I'm sorry to keep going on about this band, but I'm sitting in a hotel room and what just came on MTV2, My Chemical Romance!! And the video for Welcome to the Black Parade or whatever the hell it's called. So I watched it from the beginning to end. I hope anyone that listens to this band and thinks it's good stuff has great health insurance, because you need your head checked. And you need help fast. If this shit is music, I'm in the wrong profession. This is the biggest bunch of garbage ever delivered to my ears.

having been forced to endure this new cd at work one day (so vetoing it next time it comes on) I can say without fail that it is exactly what you might think it would be, not worth the time to bother even commenting on, for anyone who claims it is a giant leap, if by giant leap you mean "sounding just like any "MCR" song Walker's ever heard" then yes from the earth to the moon on that one.
