i was at the springsteen show in hamilton a couple months ago and it was SO amazing. it was my third time seeing him and this was the best i thought. the crowd was so into it. it was the first time he played hamilton i believe. after the show my voice was soar, my hands were red from clapping and my legs were soar from standing and rocking out. it was the classic bruce concert experience.
1. Rolling Stones, Voodoo Lounge Tour 1994
2. Gloria Estefan, Evolution 1996 (I'm not kidding, it was like a huge party)
3. Prince, 1997 (when he was known as "The Artist", it's even on the ticket)
4. R.E.M., Up Tour 1999
5. Veruca Salt, 1997 (they were one of my favorite bands at that time)
6. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - both shows I've seen: The Rising tour, 2002 in St. Louis; and the show last March in Omaha
7. Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem, September 2007 in Kansas City
8. Moby, Play tour 1999
9. Radiohead, 2003 in St. Louis
10. Pearl Jam, Yield Tour, 1998 in St Louis!

1. Wilco - 2.26.08, 9:30 Club, Washington DC
A 29 song, 2 encore show in the tiny 9:30 club. I was 3 people away from Nels. A bitchin setlist, awesome energy from the band, and a fantastic crowd. I've seen them 3 times, and this was easily the best. Such an awesome show.
2. Of Montreal/The National - 3.9.08, Langerado Music Festival
These were two seperate sets, but they were back to back on the same stage with only a small break inbetween, and the whole thing was a blur, so I consider them the same show. My friends and I were front row against the rail. Of Montreal's set was so trippy and unlike anything I've ever seen. They covered Shakedown Street, popped balloons filled with glitter over my head, and when they ended the set with "The Past is a Grotesque Animal," Kevin Barnes came out on the stage in a coffin full of shaving cream. Then he jumped down into the crowd, covered in shaving cream, and I got a nice facefull. Everyone in the front formed this shaving cream dance party! The National played after, and put on an amazingly tight performance. It didn't have the theatrics of Of Montreal's show, but was pure, emotional rock n' roll. Matt came into the crowd during Mr. November, and was singing in my face. Alligator is one of my favorite albums, so I just about died. Plus, after the show was over, I got Matt's setlist.
3. The Black Keys - 8.3.07, Lollapalooza
I can't wait to see these guys again this fall. Their set was just an hour of rock. And they rocked fucking hard. I've never heard them live before, and they realllllly brought the goods.
4. The Rolling Stones - 9.28.05, Pittsburgh PA
For the sake of this thread's rules, I'll ignore the fact that Pearl Jam opened and it was my first time seeing them . Seeing the Stones live was an experience. I couldn't believe they were still able to put on such a fun show. Rocks Off and Miss You were fantastic, not to mention Wild Horses with Eddie.
5. Dave Matthews Band - 6.27.04, Burgettstown PA
My 3rd DMB show (I've now seen them 10 times), and far and away the best. The summer 04 tour was their last great tour IMO, and I left this concert with a huge post-concert high. I'm not nearly into DMB as much now as I was then, but I remember freaking out when they played Recently, Drive In-Drive Out, and a great Fool To Think. Not to mention Boyd ripped Dancing Nancies up in the encore. It's a shame that this band has fallen off the way they have.

I saw the Black Keys open for Radiohead in 2006 (small hall tour). They blew me away and I have been hooked ever since. their new album really cooks.
Any time that I have saw Neil Young. Page and Plant March 22nd,1995.Smashing Pumpkins in 94. Every time I saw Blind Melon with Shannon Hoon. When Ben Harper opened for PJ in 96',I've caught him since then but it didn't have the same fire as when he was mainly playing the hard reggae style of Fight For Your Mind. And my first show ever was Metallica with The Cult as an opening act so I have to list that one just because it sent me on the road to rock n roll.
For me the two that stand out are 1972 Stones and Neil Young with James as an opener in the early 90's. Both of those blew me away.
"I'd rather be with an animal." "Those that can be trusted can change their mind." "The in between is mine." "If I don't lose control, explore and not explode, a preternatural other plane with the power to maintain." "Yeh this is living." "Life is what you make it."

Back Door Slam in March. I knew I was seeing something special.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
U2- Molson Centre, Montreal, 2001:
still the greatest rock show I've ever witnessed. Words cannot describe how incredible it was.
The Tragically Hip- Sasquatch Festival, 2006:
Best show I've ever seen these guys play. Made every other band on the bill look like amateurs.
Midnight Oil- Race City Speedway, Calgary, 1993:
One of the most powerful live shows I've ever seen. Peter Garrett was by far one of the greatest frontmen ever. A true rock n' roll original. What I wouldn't give to see these guys reunite and tour again.
Rheostatics- Rosza Centre, University of Calgary, 1997:
Played their final song of the night on acoustic guitars while wandering through the crowd, and then they walked up the centre aisle and disappeared out the front doors of the theatre. Classic!
Wilco- MacEwan Hall, Calgary, 2006:
Absolutely mind blowing.
Fishbone- The Republik, Calgary, 1995:
Hands down the craziest mosh pit I've ever seen. It was complete chaos, and a hell of a lot of fun.
"I try my best to chug, stomp, weep, whisper, moan, wheeze, scat, blurt, rage, whine, and seduce. With my voice I can sound like a girl, the boogieman, a Theremin, a cherry bomb, a clown, a doctor, a murderer. I can be tribal. Ironic. Or disturbed. My voice is really my instrument."
