  • I can pick one. Sleater Kinney, in a small club in Dublin. Perfect sound, perfect set, and I was within spitting distance of Corin Tucker (though she didn't like it when I kept doing it.) :)
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
  • The best concert I've ever seen including PJ was Page & Plant in 98'. Those old guys fucking rocked out the Zeppelin as good as they ever have. Best vocal and guitar performances I've ever witnessed. Of all the shows I've seen this was the best, easily.

Other than PJ I would have to say Roger Waters Houston 08. That show was amazing. The Gutter Twins was probably the most intense live experience of my life but in a different way than other shows. It's kinda hard to describe.

I really hope one day I have a chance to see Zeppelin. I think I would take out a loan to see them if that's what it took :)

Has to be either Audioslave back in '05 during the small venue tour for Out of Exile, or Iron Maiden back in May '08.

Any of the five Arcade Fire shows I have seen.

    - Coachella 2005
    - Warfield 2005
    - Greek Theater (x2) 2007
    - Shoreline 2007
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

Some of my favorite shows ever I have been lucky enough to attend. Some bands have been seen more than once.

Moody Blues- May 1996. My parents took me and my sister. I was pretty familiar with most of their hits cause my parents played the cd all the time. The Moody Blues had the entire Houston Symphony Orchestra play as their backing band and it was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of my fave bands because of this particular show and I was 13 years old, Saw them again, in 2005, again great show, but no orchestra.

Bush March 96- The first rock concert I went to just my dad and I and our neighbors. Say what you want about this band but the first two albums and tours supporting it were amazing albums. The moshpit was huge and even was hoppin full force during no doubt and goo goo dolls who both opened the show. My first time really seeing a pit and people crowd surfing.

Peter Frampton- October 2006- My 2nd Frampton show at a small Oklahoma casino in a small town called Thackerville. Was 2nd row and the show was just awesome. This was during the fingerprints tour. This concert hall probably held between 500-700 people, so the small atmosphere was nice.

Eric Clapton- Feb 2007 Just phenomenal.

Foo fighters- 98- rocked the crowd so hard and Just had amazing energy that was mind blowing. all their shows are like that even today even though the set is glittered with greatests hits over and over.

The Toadies- I got to see their first reunion show in 5 years for the st Patricks after party parade thing.Granted they were rusty, but for me it made the show even more special. The crowd and pit at this was VERY VERY ROUGH and I didn't last up front too long, but I loved watching the show and rocking out to one of my fave bands ever. Probably my 2nd fave band ever in all honesty.
Burden Brothers- Sept 2006 (Todd Lewis of Toadies) other band. I was let backstage for the Mercy release concert for pictures and got to talk with the band and Vaden for a few minutes. I finally got to tell Vaden how much his music has meant to me and the Burden Brothers just melted faces every time I have seen them. fantastic show and band if you open your mind up and ignore the negativity they receive at times because it's not the Toadies. That used to piss me off so much when the review would come out in the paper for an album or a show review.
Tom Petty and the heartbreakers Aug 2006- awesome show, screw the tom haters on here because pj played an 90 minute set. Tom fucking rules and his band is excellent.
The who- Dallas 2006. Amazing show and I am so glad I got to see the who and hear those classics even if it is soley Pete and Roger who make up the who now. It was great to see this band and the show rocked so hard!.
Bruce Springsteen and the E street band- amazing, I finally understand the obsession and appreciate Bruce's music in a whole new level because of this show. "Atlantic city" was played full band and was just awesome. I have a boot of the show and listen to it over and over again.

I'll stop here, but there are many more. :D

Arcade Fire, Portland May 2007. Had crappy assigned seats, off to the side, way back. Suddenly Win calls people up front, I see people rush past my aisle, and I get up. The people in front of literally bulldoze over the ushers and guards. I got 5th or 6th row. I have never seen a crowd that into a show. During the final song, Wake Up, I was screaming the lyrics, I turn back, and everyone is going insane, singing along, the balcony looks as though it was going to topple... It was a religious experience. Best concert I have ever seen. best live band on the planet, period.

its hard to choose one through. For me, its snippets of shows, where in the middle of one song, or one guitar chord or riff, I get chills or goosebumps. At the Cat Power show in April 2008, during one song I got this overhwlming feeling i was changed forever, and that things would never be the same. It was life changing.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band - Absolutley amazing, a truly religious experience. Tied with Pearl Jam in Ottawa in my book, and quite possibly better.

    And then:

    The White Stripes
    The Foo Fighters
    Bob Dylan
    Aerosmith
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Best night club jam was The Rolling Stones, just before their Tattoo You tour in 81. Best indoor was The Who in the mid 80's. Best outdoor was Yes in the late 70's.

Rilo Kiley at the Greek in LA a little over a week ago.

Sleater-Kinney's last 2 shows in Portland.

Rage Against The Machine at the Dragonfly in Santa Monica right after Evil Empire came out.

Local H performing "Pack Up The Cats" in it's entirety in May in Chicago. In fact, all 4 days I went were amazing. Fuck, Chicago is amazing!

Rage, Quicksand, Beastie Boys, Stanford Prison Experiment - Leonard Peltier benefit at Cal State Dominguez Hills

Up In Smoke Tour - Dre, Snoop, Eminmen, Warren G, NWA

Free Tibet - San Francisco (Rage, Beastie Boys, Beck, Smashing Pumpkins, etc)

Rocket From The Crypt - "Wheel of Tourture" shows. They had a "wheel of fortune" type wheel with songs on it. They spun the wheel, whatever came up, they played.

REM in 1990-something in Arizona. I honestly can't remember the year. But a friend of mine and I got completely baked then decided to go to the concert and score tickets from a scalper on a whim. We paid about half price because the opening act had already started. Imagine my surprise when our seats were in the 2nd row in the center.

    It was fucking amazing.

I have 100's but that one comes to mind.
  • I've seen Mudhoney a few times, and they are probably one of the most energetic bands I have ever seen on a stage(especially when Mark is performing sans guitar).

Wolfmother was really good. I was really surprised that Andrew Stockdale could sing just as good live as he does on the record. They also did a really sweet cover of communication breakdown.

Queens of the Stone Age. Saw them in a venue that holds about 1,200. Great atmosphere and a great performance.
