You would think the other 4 couldn't get away with having the same name.

why Mike Joyce? an odd choice of name even if you're a smiths fan. Most would choose a morrissey/marr related name. anyway, he's an awesome drummer and I agree, the smiths were brilliant.

AC/DC is so one dimensional...how could they be considered a top 5 band? I've never understood the thing with them. Getting drunk and stupid music, sure, but nothing more.

    Personally:

    Pink Floyd
    Pearl Jam
    R.E.M.
    Johnny Cash
    Smashing Pumpkins

If in your question you meant regardless of my opinion of them:

    The Beatles
    Elvis Presley
    Johnny Cash
    Bob Dylan
    Nirvana

All have left their mark on music in various ways and will be remembered in hundreds of years. Nirvana was tough to include, but I can't really think of any other band, save the Beatles, that changed the landscape of music so swiftly and spawned as many imitators as they did. Their career may have been short, but like the Beatles, they defined a generation.

This is my best submittal at this time. You've let me off of the hook by saying band, not artist, and allowing me to not pick Jimi Hendrix or Bob Dylan.

My favorite bands of all time:

    Pearl Jam
    U2
    The Smiths
    Wilco
    The Doors

By the way this was exceedingly difficult - at least for the last two.
  • bob marley
    ziggy marley
    peter tosh
    damien marley
    the next marley

OR any band that makes music that makes me want to dance to
  • Pearl Jam
    Radiohead
    Sparta
    Smashing Pumpkins
    Mae

Had the biggest impact on me. Can always go back to their music.
