this is bullshit. saying that assumes that there was no music before the beatles and that everything evolved from them. that is just plain untrue. i love the beatles but let's not get carried away.
hear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say

But we can get carried away for a bit, can't we?

yes they wwere very influential, but to put the existence of music on their heads is too much.
i doubt jimmy page and robert plant or ray davies were listening to the beatles when their taste and influences was being germinated. in fact i know they weren't.

But they were influential in more than just that way. The Beatles and let's be honest The Stones paved the way for Zepplin. Also recording styles. But There would have been music. But The Beatles were really important and not just in the sense that others picked up a guitar.

disagreement is good.
the sixties were a time of change regardless of the beatles. though i will admit they were in the thick of it. maybe they were in the right place at the right time.
personally though, i get no inspiration from the beatles.

"A consistently good band works all the different elements well. A song has to appeal sentimentally, intellectually, physically, viscerally, and dig deep down into your soul and suck you into it. And after that, of course, it'd be a matter of taste." ~ Kim Thayil from Soundgarden
